Always start with friendship first...allow the rest to follow...not the other way around. :D

To clarify, he used to love me, but doesn't anymore. At least not romantically, but he loves me as a person. And I hope we can be friends unless it is too onerous for him.

Well let's pray he does but if not, let it go cuz it can hurt more to hang on
cuz you are neither here nor there if you hang on and that's usually painful.
