From the lips and mouths of babes…

MODERN SQUALOR
Little children line our city’s streets,
disfigured, dismembered, disempowered.
Without a voice to stop the decay
no volume to chase the clouds away.
Who will fight for them in their anguish?
Who will bring justice down upon the heads
of those that lie; steal, and cause them to die?
Is this this the end of the world we know,
nothing to show for 70 years,
on the wasteland we call our town?
EDUCATING SITA
What hope for the outcast from a foreign land,
arriving here, case in hand?
Media eyes watching for a sign,
to cast them back into the deep blue sea.
Of forgetfulness, where all is calm,
noone disturbs us in our nice, warm beds;
well-fed, who are these aliens we have come
to see? Or not?
Don’t forget us.
KINGDOM
Hanging on the wall; can you see me at all?
Do you care when I fall, or when I cry?
When I scream and shout,
will they find me out as the failure I see
behind the lie?
THE DARKNESS
At night, when the power of darkness rules,
the sun fades, and the moon reflects her light.
There is grace in the desert place,
an unrest pierced by a flickering hope.
Will I believe for more, or shall I turn
back? Nothing to go back for.
More to see here than meets the eye;
the eyes of faith are opened wide;
I step inside to laugh to cry…
