Society has rejected God's ways and chosen the devil instead. So God leaves people to their own devices. So there are riots, nations rise up to challenge the once godly society, the weather turns against that society and sickness and disease go on a rampage.

The US is headed for civil war while China keeps on growing in military and economic strength. As God used the surrounding nations to bring Israel to account, so God is using China to wake up the Western world, that used to be called "Christian". God has mightily blessed the USA and before that, the UK. The sun finally set on the British empire, something that seemed impossible at one time. The US is at risk of becoming a second rate power, behind China and Russia. If China and Russia join forces, as is possible, the Western world is in trouble.

It need not happen. If the church, as in all who are born again, repents and prays, God will restore the nation. Too many Christians put their trust in politicians and too many blame governments for society's ills. Christians are God's authority on the earth. If we neglect to exercise that authority, Satan takes advantage and you get the problems that the Western world now suffers. 2 Chronicles 7:14 is applicable right now.
 
This fuel shortage is just out there in the Northwest, right? We do not have a fuel shortage here in Bama.....

Though fires can be cleansing for a land too.
You might even go THROUGH the fire if God is with you.

As far as I know a big nation like China had its own problems, of which there are many, but at least it didnt try to enslave or meddle with OTHER nations. Although....the Tibet thing is probably more cultural misunderstanding than oh we are invading or taking over their country. This couldnt really be said for the UK and US empires.
