Hello, I was wondering if I could get some advice on planning ahead for the future. Plans such as, engagement, wedding, marriage, and buying a house. Anyone else going through this stage in there life right now? I've had different kinds of reactions from people I know and who I'm related to when it comes to thinking about marriage and the future. Right now my BF and I are in college. I've been in college an extra year, and I'm nearly halfway. My going to college was mainly influenced by my boss, who really urged that I go. My relationship with my BF has been a great one and we both want to do what God wants us to do. The college experience, I feel has been a pretty good one (for the most part), but my BF acts like he's not looking forward to finishing. He'd prefer to work towards getting married and buying a house already, which I really want to do... but there are problems.
My boss has a big expectation for me to continue with school. She also feels that it is mine and my BF's only ticket to success in life. She feels mostly this way for my BF because he has optic atrophy, so he can't drive, yet his vision isn't bad enough for him to be considered legally blind. My mom and others would like for us to continue with school, but aren't pressuring us into thinking we absolutely need to.
My BF is working on saving money back for a ring, but I'm afraid my boss isn't going to like me being engaged because of his disability. She feels rather that I sould have "surfed the menu" at college rather than settling on being with a close friend of mine that I love. So, there will be issues with the engagement and marriage on my boss's part.
My BF and I had gone to look at a house with my mom and some other relatives. They act like overall the house is fine... but will need a lot of TLC becasue it was built in 1854. The problem is we don't know how we will find a job or two for my future hubby because he's disabled to some dergee and he'd be dependant upon me or someone else to be his means of transportation. He'd like to find a job close to the house we want, but he lives several towns away.
How do people go about making slow plans into finding a stable job, getting married, and purchasing a house. It would be very demanding and expensive, and definately a different life apart from living on a college dorm and having access to home on the weekends. how do people go about starting a new life together. My bf and I have been in prayer and are hoping to find out God ways in all of this. I would like advice and life experiences of others, if you don't mind sharing. Thanks and God bless!

1. College is not a ticket to success. My grandfather never finished high-school. He was an orphan at the age of 8 and began working in a coal mine. He ended up being a foreman at Cadillac, making enough money to raise three sons, own a house, retire, and all the other parts of the "American Dream"
2. Listen to what God is speaking to your heart. Is your boyfriend the man God has placed in your life? Does He truly love God more than he loves you?
3. Speak to your pastor. Set up a time where you and your boyfriend can meet with the pastor and his wife and see what they advise.

My advice is to not make any rash decisions about dropping out of college and getting married. College can benefit you, but it definitely is not a free ticket to success. Success comes from God, not a degree. Make a Godly decision.

College doesn't always equal success, though I'd want to finish what I'd started and get my degree, you can be married and in school if you wanted to.
I don't have a close relationship with my boss, so I don't really understand why yours would care who you are engaged to and what their health status is or why engagement would be a problem in general with them. The only reason my boss knows I'm engaged is because my fiance and I work together.

I don't know where you live, but in my state there are programs that can help transport individuals who are disabled and unable to drive, and many work places carpool

and searching for jobs.. check newspapers, craigslist , local to your state job websites (like Maine has JobsinME).. word of mouth etc

One good way to start preparing for the future is start putting a bit of money away for saving each payday (even just a couple dollars each time, things add up)

I wondering about my future, but I think I finally found a solution to one of my situation lack of education. I have find that I want to go for a youth ministry or young adult ministry, but the time I leave college I would be around 30 years or a little younger depending on how long it takes me... I leaving my current job, and hopefully for a really great oppurnity and a lot of chocolate! Decent hours, Decent Pay, and I could goto school! So it's a wonderful oppurntiy and I am prayering I get it! Going to help and volunteer and I prayering I have a lot of fun, and enjoy it near the end of the month! The hard part I am having is actually saving up money :) I want to drive, but having trouble with focusing on it, The house I really want to buy but I have horrible credit, so I prayering once way or anther God helps me get trhough these little trails, but I think my future looks brighter ,then dimmer!

One thing I would suggest is to begin right now getting yourself aligned a man called Dave Ramsey. It may make the difference in really enjoying financial freedom, and just scraping by in the future. Some habits are very important to establish early.
