What is it?
Is it a reality for a believer?
Is so why and how so?
If it carries over to a believer and they struggle with it what are the consequences?
Exo 20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
Exo 20:6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
Deu 5:8 Thou shalt not make thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth:
Deu 5:9 Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me.
Deu 5:10 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.
We are not blamed for the sins of others, and our own lifestyle determines our standing with God.
It does not matter if Hitler was your father, for you are not blamed for his sin.
We are not blamed for the sin of Adam and Eve, but when they ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil they then had a choice, so all of humanity is born with a choice, so they are born not knowing God, and will do wrong before they come to God to repent of their sin.
So all have sinned, done the act, not born with it, and fall short of the glory of God.
It states that God will visit the iniquity of the fathers upon the children that hate Him, so this curse is not upon the children that follow God in the truth.
If the children are not blamed for the sins of their fathers then it can only mean that their father was engaged in idolatry, not following the truth of God, and it affected his children to where they did the same, such as certain kings of Israel that did evil in the sight of God that affected people.
Which God is speaking of idolatry, and to those that hate Him because of that idolatry, not following God, or not in the truth, which the children were affected because of the iniquity of their father that passed down the line unto the children, and they did the same.
For even if their father is the one that started the idolatry in the family, and falsehood, the children that are affected by it and do the same because it is the family, God will visit the iniquity of their father upon them, which they have no excuse because their father started it, for they are still responsible for their own actions.
But this curse is only to those offspring in the family that follow the same falsehood as their father, for the children that do not God will not go against them.
So God is not going against them because of what their father did, but to those that do the same as their father.
It is the only thing that makes sense for we are not blamed for the sins done by other people, but we are only responsible for our own sins.
Which Israel should know better for Israel is His chosen people, and the Old Testament given to them.
Which generational curse or not, everyone is still responsible for their own actions, and even though their father was the one that was involved in the idolatry, and not following the truth, God will still go against the children that do the same as their father, and will not let it go, and they do not have an excuse because their father was involved in it, and started it in the family.
For obeying your parents does not apply when it is something that is idolatry, and not following the truth, for the truth of God supersedes that.
It seems like generational curse means that God will not let it go to the ones that follow the same falsehood as their father, for they have no excuse because it came from their father first, but they are responsible for their own actions, and whatever curses came upon the father will come upon the offspring that followed that falsehood in the family.
But to those that did not follow the falsehood in the family they have no curse, because God will visit the iniquity of the father upon them in the future that hate Him, not the ones that broke from that deception and followed the truth.
It is not a curse that comes upon all the offspring in the future regardless if they were in the truth, or not, but only upon those that follow the family deception.
For nobody is blamed for the sins of another person.
