We’ve ended up going to a basic non-denominational church. The church is fine. Of course the music’s too loud, but it’s a plain good church with no frills and a good atmosphere. As I was listening to the sermon, I felt myself being very critical about everything - pastor didn’t go into enough detail, praise team was too young, not enough teaching on this or that. Right around the time I was feeling all this the preacher sort of stopped and said to the effect “Try to let go of a critical spirit and love one another…” I felt immediately convicted and this changed my whole attitude about churches. Sure the music’s too loud was still loud, but it was so easy to ski into that critical spirit. I’ve enjoyed church ever since.

Sure it can be taken too far, but there's nothing wrong with being critical if it's justified.
Yeah, I was being overly critical. It kind of freed me up.
There is a fine line between discernment and criticism.
Churches have to make do with the resources that they have and can't please everyone.
If you find a 'just right' church that fits you might be like Goldilocks who ended up messing with the 3 bears porridge. They'd already made their porridge and furniture to fit them and not Goldilocks who .. had no part and basically invaded the 3 bears home while they were out, instead of maybe meeting the 3 bears first and been offered a bowl of porridge of her own and the guest chair.
