Giving to someone in need is an act of obedience to God's Word. However, if our motive for doing so is to gain recognition or favor from man, and not out of love, our gift has little spiritual significance. When we give to those in need, we are to remain humble and not boast about what we've done. Everything we have has been given to us by God. He causes us to prosper so we can demonstrate His good and kind nature by being a blessing to others. As we refuse to take the glory, for any acts of kindness, God will reward us. He sees what is done for His glory, and rewards us for being good stewards of what He has entrusted to us.

Thank You LORD GOD ALMIGHTY for this rare privilege granted to us to give and help others in JESUS' NAME.

An eye for an eye, a bump for a bump... And he who bumpeth his own thread, it shall be bumped.

We will bump no whine before its time...

This is starting to remind me of Disney. You know, that company that is all the time advertising its old animated videos.

"This is your last chance to own Disney's 'Aladdin' before it goes back into the vault for another 20 years!"

And like Disney's old movies, you never get any new content. Just another "bump" of the old content.

If you remember the poor, God will remember you when you are poor. Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse and see if He will not bring so much blessing on you that you will not be able to contain it. Any good you do, the Lord will repay you.

There was a Levitical, Festival, and Poor tithe in O.T. times.

Since this thread is referring to charity to the less fortunate, the Poor tithe would be the closest in relevancy. The Poor tithe was a third year tithe, however, and it was not brought to the storehouse. Deut 14:28 & Duet 26:12.

What was taken to the storehouse was a tenth of the Levitical tithe(Neh 10:38).

We're better off avoiding the O.T. tithing system and sticking with the N.T.

Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality. -Romans 12:13

What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
-James 2:14-17
