Excellent! You beat me to it. Fashions, in the treatment of not just letterforms but, the visual information world in general was one of the first things mentioned in my schooling. "Why?" To create impact and force the mind to place that identification in it's own special place.

It's all using the 'negative space' as we learned in art class. I never did graphics or technical drawing though, that was a seperate subject. Some subjects were deemed more for boys than girls and I remember 'tech' being one of them. Girls learned typing.
It's probably not like that in schools anymore. I went to a co-ed school but I noticed that it was still segregated on the 'playground' ie. girls always hung out with girls, boys with boys. Girls and boys never spoke to each other and if they did, everyone knew they were 'going round' with each other and rumours would fly they were suddenly an item. lol. Sorry random school memory.

Artists and engineers, etc. is basically among all those who create and construct to make our lives fuller, sometimes safer. We have nothing without His gifts to create! Funny, after 51 years (this winter) of being saved, being counseled and performing research, a professional in industrial and private arts, I have been completely shielded from verses 2-5 in Exodus till now, having only Paul's advice to Christian artist which has served me well I might add:
"Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things." (Phil 4:8)

The Exodus verse was for the Israelites in effect starting a new nation, and also clever people were used to build and decorate the first Temple. But yea Phllippians is good advice. It's better to be a Pollyanna too than a Debbie Downer.

It's a beauty! They used to call any heavy outlined area that floods into neighboring characters, a trap.

Having witnessed for myself years ago, the end of a decades-long holdout to toothpaste, Tooth Powder. Nothing spectacular of the letter fonts in use, but, the amusing extent the packaging itself was not willing to identify itself as: "Never Sold in Paste Form",
