Hi, I just want to ask for others experience beating gluttony.. I know I eat when Im not hungry, I eat beacause cookies look good, Im bored and simply just because. Of course, I have prayed about that, but so far all I can do is discipline myself for 3 days and then again im on my old ways. I kinda wish to "magically" have no sweet tooth anymore or smthng like that, like it happened with smoking, for example - i was smoking but since i accepted Jesus I cant even look at cigarettes anymore, that's it, done with that! So..I don't know what else could help..please share your experience over this deadly sin..thank you

My sweet ex kicked a demon of gluttony out without asking when I just met him. I was offended to the bone, but I must say that since then I never had to diet anymore or do effort.

Coby2, and how bad was Your gluttony before? I've done self exorcism, so maybe I have to try again with this particular Glutton demon

I know that feeling I still fight it a lot. What helped me is fasting. And when it gets bad again fast again, it helps truly. its hard at first but after a while its almost easy

Besides praying, which is the best way, the next best way is to do two things. Go on a short 3 or 4 day fresh vegetable juice fast and get all or most of the processed foods out of your diet.
The food companies are putting chemicals in processed foods that they know are addictive. And unlike alcohol or drugs, you need food. So what they are doing is insidious. Some of the chemicals are not even listed on the ingredients. And some of them are misleading, as they are precursors to another chemical.
With most people, over eating is about 50% physical, and another 50% psychological.
Also, people with certain allergies may have a predisposition to over indulge with certain food ingredients.
All that said, in my counseling, when I was dealing with Christians, I found pray was the first and best way to approach it.

Pray, it does a body good.

Hi lora, i happen to have read an article on reducing sweets, actually from a link someone posted here if i remember right?? I do not know, ad how well it works, but to stop wanting sweets u could rinse ur mouth with baking soda, the author wrote.. wc is also one way of deodorizing the mouth, is it not=). So i havent tried, and i could control my sweets anyway. But u may wish to see if that is helpful.

I confess to being a glutton but believe that it is due to an uncontrollable appetite rather than being a bad guy. Thankfully for me it is not evident as I only weigh 145 lbs.

Good on you for acknowledging you have this problem. Unhealthy eating is a huge issue that society faces. The first thing to do is to understand that what your brain perceives as 'feel good' food, is anything but. When it has been so used to all those poisonous substances such as sugar, caffeine etc it's going to send signals to you that it wants more and more of that same garbage. You have to start by retraining your brain by feeding your body differently. It's going to take several months, if not more, but it's definitely worth it.

Start by eliminating all those poisons out of your daily intake immediately. Replace them with fruits, nuts and seeds, anything vegan is fantastic. Don't restrict yourself on eating anything that's healthy. Once you've done this for a significant amount of time, you won't feel those hunger pangs or cravings anymore at all.

So much of what the world advertises as 'food' is not. It is chemically, hormonally infiltrated, artery clogging, disorder and disease inducing poison. Reeducate yourself on all matters of health and what 'real food' is, not what the majority advertises it to be. Then, reintroduce your body to your new healthy habits and your brain will respond in kind and, one day, be immensely grateful for it. Your health is the best investment you can make, God speed.
