The attributes of God can be compared to the spokes of a wagon wheel. If you magnify or lengthen one of the spokes you no longer have a perfectly round wheel, it is distorted. Many when faced with scriptures of God’s decree and His sovereignty in salvation, will deny those scriptures since they are blinded by enlarging God’s love, and approaching scripture by emotions and feelings. When thinking of “God is love”, there are other “God is…” or “the LORD is” statements to keep in mind. God is just, righteous and holy and He does and will judge!

Heb_12:29
for indeed our God is a consuming fire.

Deu_4:24
For the LORD your God is a devouring fire, a jealous God.

Nam_1:2 A jealous and avenging God is the LORD; the LORD is avenging and wrathful; the LORD takes vengeance on his adversaries and prolongs it against his enemies.

Psa_7:11 God is a righteous judge and a God who has indignation every day.

Psa_11:7 For the LORD is righteous; he loves righteous deeds; the upright shall behold his face.

Psa_99:9 Extol the LORD our God, and worship at his holy mountain, for the LORD our God is holy.

Heb_6:10 For God is not unjust; he will not overlook your work and the love that you showed for his sake in serving the saints, as you still do.

Isa_30:18 Therefore the LORD waits to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show mercy to you. For the LORD is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him.

Jer_51:56 for a destroyer has come against her, against Babylon; her warriors are taken; their bows are broken, for the LORD is a God of recompense; he will repay in full.

1Sa_2:3 Talk no more so very proudly; let not arrogance come from your mouth, for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed

Jhn_3:33 Whoever has accepted his testimony has certified this, that God is true.

Yes, and the attributes of wrath and love are not contradictory, so your implied task is explaining how to harmonize them.

In view of the entire corpra of the Bible, we can see a God with almost every human emotion. He can be quick to anger or slow to anger. He appears unjust as in punishing 4 generations of a family for the sins of their great great grandfather or when He kills 70,000 men women and children one day to punish King David for taking a census of his available army. He can feel remorse as when His male angels left heaven to breed with human women. God regretted that He ever created mankind and the earth supporting mankind. He can feel betrayed when Israel betrayed God like an adulterous woman betrays her husband as noted by His prophets. He can feel love, jealousy, anger, compassion and loyalty. As noted love is not the only emotion demonstrated by God.

Yes, and because God is infinite all of His attributes also are infinite, so every spoke should be magnified or praised.

Agape or divine love is not mere emotion but also includes rational commitment.

If you feel like you have forgiven someone who has done you or someone you love wrong, and it came from the heart, you will praise God.Cause your spirit will want to praise God for taking away a heavy heart. So you should praise him. That's how you will know that forgiveness came from the heart and not the mind.A lot of people deceive themselves into thinking they forgave someone when that forgiveness didn't come from the heart. It was only in the mind.
Love overcomes it all.God is love.God created out of love with his breath/word.
So you wouldn't have that unforgiveness or hate in you if that love overcame it.I believe a lot of Christian don't make it to heaven because they didn't have that forgiveness in the heart because the love wasn't there.
A good way to know is,say something happen in your childhood and you carried that burden all your life.Or somebody took a person you loved dearly out of your life and it causes you grief. If you prayed and asked God to take away your heavy heart and he does, then you will know because your spirit will want to praise him and you should let it out.God loves the praise.God will really just be on your mind, and you will love him for it since you will know that only God could have taken away the burden supernaturally if I dare say.
You have to stay in God because satan loves to try take back what he thinks is his.He will put a thought in your mind and you might think it's random but the mind was created for God.Rebuke any thought that isn't built on the foundation of your temple.Which is built on love.

Sorry i said something twice but I'm not going to edit it lol

Who does God love?

‘God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that everyone who has faith in him may not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16, REB)

But God proves his love for us in that while we still were sinners Christ died for us. (Rom 5:8, NRSV) *The “we” and “us” are Paul and those believers to whom he was writing: "To all God’s beloved in Rome, who are called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ." (Rom 1:7, NRSV)

Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love. (1John 4:7-8, NRSV)

Who does God NOT love?

The boastful will not stand before your eyes; you hate all evildoers. (Ps 5:5, NRSV)

There are six things that the LORD hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that hurry to run to evil, a lying witness who testifies falsely, and one who sows discord in a family. (Prov 6:16-19, NRSV)

I have loved you, says the LORD. But you say, “How have you loved us?” Is not Esau Jacob’s brother? says the LORD. Yet I have loved Jacob but I have hated Esau; I have made his hill country a desolation and his heritage a desert for jackals. (Mal 1:2-3, NRSV)

God loves those for whom Jesus shed His blood to redeem, not all mankind, but some:

And now they sing a new song. "It is fitting," they say, "that Thou shouldst be the One to take the book And break its seals; Because Thou hast been offered in sacrifice, And hast purchased for God with Thine own blood Some out of every tribe and language and people and nation, (Rev 5:9, Weymouth)

And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; (Rev 5:9, KJV)

and they sing a new song, saying, 'Worthy art thou to take the scroll, and to open the seals of it, because thou wast slain, and didst redeem us to God in thy blood, out of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation, (Rev 5:9, YLT)

*You see in Rev. 5:9 what John means by "world"!

Don't confuse 'hate' with 'not love' (Luke 14:26).
You can hate and love the same person with consistency & harmony.

You have to be cautious as to when to be a literalist and when not to be so. I'll late Matthew Poole answer your statement:

"We met with much the same Mat 10:37,38. The sum of the words is, That no man can be a true disciple of Christ, that giveth any friend, or any thing, a preference to Christ in the affections of his heart. Christ must be loved above all. It appeareth that the words must not be interpreted rigidly, for then they would oblige us to a thing,

1. Impossible in nature: for no man ever yet hated his own flesh, but nourisheth and cherisheth it, Eph 5:29. Yet life is one of the things mentioned which we ought to hate.

2. It is morally impossible: for the law of God commands us to honour our father and mother.

For the nonobservance of, or teaching contrary to, which law, teaching the people to say, Corban, It is a gift by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me, Christ so severely reflected on the Pharisees. Himself therefore doth not here teach others to hate their fathers or mothers, taking hatred in a strict and absolute sense:

If any man hate not signifieth here no more than, If any man doth love his father, wife, children, brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life, more than me,

he cannot be my disciple. Nor is this any sense put upon the term hate, different from what must be the sense of it in other scriptures: Gen 29:31,

When the Lord saw that Leah was hated, that is, less loved, as is expressed, Luk 14:30; so it must be interpreted in Luk 14:33. It also signified less loved, Deu 21:15,17; Mt 6:24; Joh 12:25. We met with the substance of what is here, Luk 14:27, in Mat 10:38, and Mar 8:34."

Now, it is up to you to explain why the following is not literal, as the above is shown not to be taken literally:

As it is written, “I have loved Jacob, but I have hated Esau.” (Rom 9:13, NRSV)

I have loved you, says the LORD. But you say, “How have you loved us?” Is not Esau Jacob’s brother? says the LORD. Yet I have loved Jacob but I have hated Esau; I have made his hill country a desolation and his heritage a desert for jackals. (Mal 1:2-3, NRSV)

Or even better, you can love the person but hate their sins (Romans 5:8).

"But God commendeth his own love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, shall we be saved from the wrath of God through him." (Rom 5:8-9, ERV)

I see how "hate the sin but love the sinner" can be seen clearly from God's perspective given to us in Scripture, but David himself in the Psalms views it differently, and David's view for God's people as to hate seems more fitting.

I have not sat with men of falsehood; Neither will I go in with dissemblers. I hate the assembly of evil-doers, And will not sit with the wicked. (Ps 26:4-5, ASV)

I hate them that regard lying vanities; But I trust in Jehovah. (Ps 31:6, ASV)

ס s SAMEKH. I hate them that are of a double mind; But thy law do I love. (Ps 119:113, ASV)

Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee? I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies. (Ps 139:21-22, ERV)

Agape or divine love is not mere emotion but also includes rational commitment.

I'm not sure if that addresses the question. AGAPE is a Geek concept. The word agape dates back to at least the time of Plato, around the fifth century BCE. However, its meaning in ancient Greek culture was different from the selfless, unconditional love it is commonly known for today but it is the concept that New Testament writers knew and adopted. But the idea of divine love as agape was ancient by New Testament times.

Yes, the OT had almost no understanding of God's love for everyone including His enemies (Matt. 5:44&48, Rom. 5:8, John 3;16).
At least Isaiah realized that God's plan of salvation included the Gentiles.

Okay, and my point was that love as commitment is too rare and results in divorce.
