Okay, so I have this funny story you guys may get a kick out of.
Here is a little backstory for what was going on:
This Friday, all of the churches in my town had this event called the "30 Hour Famine", which basically was a 30-hour fundraiser where everyone fasts and people "sponsor" the fasters by donating money for each hour one person fasts. We raised about $40,000 for World Vision, and the US government matches the donation 5 times, so it turns out to $240,000 donated!
And here is the stoy:
So, on Friday, I was feeling kind of bad about the 30-hour famine, because I wasn't going to be raising any money donation-wise, because I didn't know about the donation gathering until it was too late. Also, I wouldn't be able to do the full event, because I had an important test and I got lunch at Taco Bell (the event started at 7 AM).
At Taco Bell, I decided to pray to God, asking him to give me a sign to cheer me up, and about 5 seconds after I said "Amen", this homeless guy walked up to me and saw the book I had on my table ("The Heaven Trilogy" by Ted Dekker) and he said, "WHOA! What's that book about??" I told him that it was a Christian book about the perception of Heaven and Earth and the spiritual battle that goes on between them.\
It turned out that the man was a Christian as well, and him and I talked a lot about faith, and the importance of Love in the Christian faith, and how a lot of Christians decide to ignore the aspect of love. He was basically saying that God loves people the same even if one donates a million dollers or one has nothing to give financially, but he shows love to the sick and hurting.
What the man was saying really hit home for me, because I'm struggling financially and can't really give much, but I do care a lot for people who are hurt, so it that conversation was reassuring for me
What do you guys think? Do you guys have any interesting experiences?
