God the Son says he has a God... Why?

Someone on this site posted a question that I feel is a good one and worthy of being answered. Bascially, why did Jesus say he had a God if he is God? Personally I don't know. My guess is that Jesus was submissive to the Father's will. What do you think? I would like input on this...
 
Being a former JW, this was one we would always use to try to take Jesus' divinity away. Being a Trinity-believing Christian now, I believe this verse is in fact referencing to Jesus' submission to the Father.

Is this submission also after the cross? Why would Jesus need to be submissive to the Father after doing his will through his death and resurrection?

Depends on if you believe in Oneness or the Trinity. I for one can't even begin to agree with Oneness (who was Jesus talking to when He was alive? Himself?). So I believe that this submission is technically still in place before and after the cross (He is still seated at the right hand of God the Father). However, I have a theory that in Heaven, Jesus is in perfect communion with the Father, so even though He is in submission to the Father's will, His will and the Father's will are aligned, if that makes any sense.

CHRIST came into the world not only to "show us THE FATHER" but to model for man the exact relationship a son of god is supposed to have with the FATHER who is in Heaven

John 20:24-29

Jesus is God, he came in the flesh to dwell among man kind where he could not in the earlier times, because no flesh could stand in his presence and live to see him as he really is. Moses was only able to see his back as he walked away from him on the mountain.Never his face,and live.

I didn't have a passage in mind. Just puzzled as to why Jesus needs to submit after he already submitted at the cross to the Father's will. After the cross, what else does Jesus submit to?

Well, I took a good look at all four Gospels and Acts and I could not find a passage where Jesus was openly submitting to the Father.
Pre-crucifixion there are obviously plenty.
Not to say that I could not have missed something!

That reminds me of the passage where Isaiah sees the Lord and how in the gospels it is said there that Isaiah saw Jesus' glory in that passage.
 
It is so hard for people to understand that Jesus is God. Scripture tells you that over and over again,and some people cannot comprehend simple words. when you go to a theater and watch a movie, what you see projected on the screen is the same thing on the film, it does exactly what is on the film and nothing beside that. That is how you see Jesus the son as God, the father. Every word spoken through Jesus was the mouth of God speaking. He said when you see me ,you see the Father. how plain can that be.

Genesis 3:1
Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?”

2 Corinthians 11:3,4
But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ. 4For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or if you accept a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it readily enough.

That's really what I was trying to say when I said I believed He still "technically" submits to the Father's will lol.

Kinda like wearing a motorcycle helmet while you're sitting on a couch. You'll probably never really need it, but it's still there.

Jesus prayed " Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done" See Luke 22:42 That is a picture of submission to me. It does not use the exact words of Jesus submitted to the Father.

They are all God (Deity)- the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. In Hebrews 1:9 God the Father also calls Jesus "God."

For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one

Does the fact that 1 John 5:7 doesn't appear in the original Greek text make it more or less inspired than other scriptures which appear in the Holy Bible?
