so, what do you think about the idea of using a slingshot on the captive squirrel or rabbit? I can stick him in a bag as if I was going to use a club, and then shoot with a slingshot.

No matter what you do, it's going to hurt it. But, I can say, that God did say to not strangle them.
I think as Paul thought
2 Corinthians 7:1
Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

For me, I think, taking all thought captive to the obedience of Christ
To use all of whatever animal as for the use of need, not gain or game.
As when God told Noah they could now eat meat, once the flood was over.
Drain all the blood use the hide skin for clothing
Make use, and see to not take killing as a sport as is used today in stuffings, taxidermy
It is not well for my Soul to do wrong to anyone or anything, that Father sent Son to reconcile me first, then give gave me new life in my Soul to never die John 4:23-24

Romans 14:14
I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.

Respecting one another in each others belief's, which is love all, not a few as people do. I have done in past. If, I eat meat and another is offended, and I see it, I see to not eat meat in front of them, seeing to not sear anyone's conscience over it
How deep does that go, much deeper than just food

Yes I agree with this. Something I might run into, is I heard neighbors get angry about things like this. They call police even though you not breaking laws. The police will side with them and claim animal cruelty, even though you trapping with license.

yes, all have their own views, as many get offended and then cause offense in the others too
As Long as another person is not harming another person in front of me, I see to. not respond to stop that person
Unless the person id harming the other one and the one being harmed is calling out for help
As that can be very tricky to k ow wjem top and earn not to. As our Father, the Father of the risen Son, lets us know. At least for me I made many mistakes in past, to learn when to and when not to.
Thanks

I wanted to say, I found out that freezing is not considered human method. That makes it unlawful here in the USA.
Only lawful way is the hit to the head. Or a clean shot to the heart.

You might want to look into trapping.
YouTube will have all kinds of trappers that you can learn from. After that, you might have a local hunting club that has a member that traps. Leave him contact info and maybe get some pointers. You can buy traps online and at tractor supply, Southern States, Rural King, Cabela's as well as other sporting goods and feed stores .
Find out what meat game in your area you want for starters.

There are no evil spirits involved with hunting fishing or trapping.
Yes! Rodent management is a responsible activity for almost all rural communities. Trapper conventions are usually held at fairgrounds where you can aquire trap accessories and dyes for the traps. But, my suggestion for that special someone is, don't surprise her with one of those sets of Trapper's earrings, they hang all sorts of rodent body parts off those, yes all.

Worked the ''trap line'' with a good friend once that I car-pooled with for years, but myself?, no. But those are a special hunter and intensely interesting who also agreed with the logic in the movie, ''Grey Owl'' (true story). The good trapper can still work and sell his pelts, but, his wares are less and less desirable, fortunate just to break even. But I'll mention to him you asked. :)

I don't trap for fur, but do appreciate the coyote removal and anyone who wants to process fur into clothing.
My needs are different. Mainly pest and garden control.
When the ground hogs return soon, I'll set them to capture so they don't undermine my storage building or foundation. They are good for relocation like catch and release to one's freezer for dinner. 🍽️🌱😉
They go good with dandelion greens, morels and ramps.
