I was just curious to see how many people out there agree with me in saying that God has a sense of humor. :] I am a stresser. A worrier. An overthinker. And time and time again, when I get crazy and let my irrational human mind run wild with worry, God always reminds me how easy it would have been if I had just brought it to him. I imagine him saying "See, you could have avoided all that irritation/headache if you just asked me." Then I imagine him having himself a gentle laugh at my expense. (I don't mean that in a negative way, it is a good picture I have in my head) There are other instances were I have observed his sense of humor, quite often actually.

Just wondering how many of you have had similar experiences. :]

I think there are at least a couple instances in the Bible where some wit is shown, although it tends to get lost in translation.

In 1 Kings 18, Elijah straight up taunts the prophets of Baal because their rituals weren't causing Baal to miraculously set an altar on fire. Elijah proceeds to say, “Shout louder! Surely he is a god! Perhaps he is deep in thought, or busy, or traveling. Maybe he is sleeping and must be awakened.” What's missed is that the "busy" part is actually a euphemism for using the bathroom. Then, just to really shame the false prophets, Elijah has the altar DRENCHED and then God epicly shows off with fire from heaven.

John 6 amuses me. Jesus drives these people nuts. In the previous chapter he had MIRACULOUSLY FED THEM and they come asking for a sign for his divinity. Then he proceeds to speak in metaphor calling for them to perform cannibalism and vampirism in order to be saved (no offense to Catholics; I dunno if it's true, but I've heard that Catholics believe the disciples literally ate his flesh and drank his blood during the Last Supper), basically enraging them. And I chuckle at their dullness.

Jeremiah 36:17-18 has a bit of dry wit in it:

Then they asked Baruch, “Tell us, how did you come to write all this? Did Jeremiah dictate it?”
“Yes,” Baruch replied, “he dictated all these words to me, and I wrote them in ink on the scroll.”

Well derp, no duh. Interestingly enough, Baruch's name's root word means "blessing." You might say he was blessed with a quick wit, although some of the people might not have considered it much of a blessing!

When you think about it though, the Bible was predominantly written by Jews - a people renown for their sarcastic wit.

I think our Heavenly Father has his own sense of humor which is good. And maybe we see some of that humor in the things we read about in the Bible.
There was the time where The Angel of the Lord made the Donkey speak to Balaam in Numbers 22. And in Danial 5: ; a hand alone, appeared out of thin air to write a message on the wall in front of Belshazzar the king of Babylon , and he became so frightened that he wet himself an all.

Matthew 6:27 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

I heard a recorded sermon recently where the pastor passed along story he had heard. An elementary teacher school asked a group of 6 year old kids "What does Jesus coming back to life mean to you" speaking of the resurrection. One by one the children stood and spoke their view. Coming to a little girl 'bout 6 years old who stood up. "TA-DA" was all she said. I'm sure our Father LOL'd.

More recently I was digging deep into the creation of Eve account. Breaking down every word and checking the Hebrew meaning and such - just lost in study I was. Got to the part where Adam woke up, saw his helpmate and gave her a name. Then I heard that still small voice whisper "TA-DA."

So yep, I think GOD has a pretty good sense of humor!

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. ( Genesis 1:27 )

God created us in His image so laughter and a sense of humor has to also be from Him. So i would say yes God does have a sense of humor.Although alot of people tend to twist humor and make crass, crude and cruel jokes. What a sinful person thinks is funny would not amuse a Holy God.And humor aimed at the expense of others to tear them down instead of building them up is contrary to God's Word.God is pure and untainted and i believe His humor is also.

God Bless you and May Jesus be with you all.:)
