GWH, per your request, will you answer the questions now?

Here we are GWH, your opinion vs GOD'S word as you requested my own thread just for you to back up your words.

For those who don't know what's going on, I continue to ask GHW to explain or back up what he says with GOD'S word and he either refuses to or just cant.

I told him if he does not explain his opinion I would start a thread just for that, he said he would answer then. SO here we are.

First, baptism in water and being filled with God's Spirit are TWO separate things.

1. In GOD's word water baptism is for remission of sins.
Acts 2:38, 22:16.

2. Spirit baptism is when when JESUS fills us with HIS Spirit, the Holy Ghost, and we speak in tongues as described in the chapter and verse below.

None of this is my opinion but HIS WORD ONLY, what happens when a person is baptized in the Holy Ghost.

JESUS TOLD HIS DISCIPLES NOT TO GO ANYWHERE UNTIL THEY RECEIVED IT.

Acts 1.
2 Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:
3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:
4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

Acts 2:3-4
3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Acts 10:44-46
44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

Acts 19:6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

PETER said, speaking in tongues is what happens when a person is filled.
Acts 2:33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.

Jesus said in Mark, speaking in tongues is what happens when a person is filled.
Mark 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

GHW OPINION is
1. Spirit baptism REPLACED water baptism.

2. Being filled with the Holy Ghost means YOU ARE FILLED WITH LOVE.

3. Being filled with the Spirit and speaking in tongues was for that time and was perverted by some into a faux gift of mere babbling.

I asked GWH to back up his opinion on July 27th AND I"M STILL WAITING.

GWHs OPINION as he CLAIMS GOD WORD SAYS IT.

The Kerygma - God's Requirement for Salvation #821
"GW says WB was replaced with SB because they are two separate things: one is an outward work that may be imitated, while the other is the inward faith in JESUS that is salvific."

The Word: The accounts in the NT include both water baptism and speaking in tongues after receiving the infilling of the Holy Ghost as noted above.

The Kerygma - God's Requirement for Salvation #976
GWH
Just noticed this point: Yes, believers are either Spirit-filled or not, and love is the evidence of filling that justifies believing someone is filled (and the basis of spiritual unity) per John 13:35.

"And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." Acts 2:4

The Kerygma - God's Requirement for Salvationon #1,082
Regarding speaking in tongues, the original occurrence at Pentecost (in Acts 2:4-11) was earthly languages given as a sign of reversing Babel for the purpose of evangelism, but by the time of its occurrence in the church at Corinth it had morphed into mere babble, which Paul tried to quash tactfully (1Cor. 14:19), possibly because even pagan religions practiced it. Again, the purpose of the original gift at Pentecost and for a while longer was to fulfill prophecy and ensure the planting of the first Christian church, but that gift apparently ceased after the apostolic era (1Cor. 13:8-13) and was perverted by some into a faux gift of mere babbling, so one should not be myopic and focus only on a problematic proof-text (1Cor. 14:18-20).

PROBLEMATIC PROOF-TEXT???? You do know that ALL SCRIPTURE IS GIVEN BY INSPIRATION OF GOD AND IS PROFITABLE FOR DOCTRINE, REPROOF, CORRECTION, FOR INSTRUCTION IN RIGHTEOUSNESS THAT THE MAN OF GOD MAY BE PERFECT, THOROUGHLY FURNISHED UNTO ALL GOOD WORKS. 2 Tim. 3:16-17
!!!!!!!! So to throw out scriptures one doesn't like keeps people from coming to the truth. !!!!!!!!

Paul explained there are diversities of tongues, meaning they serve different purposes of God. Such as evidence of the infilling of the Holy Ghost, edification of one's reborn spirit, and edification of church members through the spiritual gift of tongues and interpretation.
"For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries." 1 Cor. 14:2

So who is right GOD and HIS word or GWH?

GWH the ball is in your court!

Prove being filled with the Holy Ghost fills us with love.

Prove water baptism was replaced spirit baptism.

Prove that speaking in tongues was morphed into mear babble.

Prove that spaking in tongues stopped.

NOT YOUR OPPIOION you shared that all ready HIS WORD, PROVE ALL OF THIS WITH HIS WORD.

I will.

1. "Here we are GWH, your opinion vs GOD'S word."
No, my opinion vs. your opinion regarding GW.
2. "I continue to ask GHW to explain or back up what he says with GOD'S word."
Yes, you repeatedly say/ask the same thing.
3. "and he either refuses to or just cant."
I did, but I refused to quarrel.
4. "First, baptism in water and being filled with God's Spirit are TWO separate things."
IMO WB symbolizes SB.
5. "In GOD's word water baptism is for remission of sins Acts 2:38, 22:16."
WB by John the Baptist may have derived from the ritual washings in Leviticus 14:8 & 15:4-27.
6. "Spirit baptism is when when JESUS fills us with HIS Spirit, the Holy Ghost."
I agree per Matthew 3:11.
7. "and we speak in tongues as described in the chapter and verse below."
And we love everyone as in Romans 5:8 & Galatians 5:22.
8. "None of this is my opinion but HIS WORD ONLY".
Your opinion does not jibe with much of GW.
9. "Acts describes SB as being signified by speaking in tongues."
Tongues in Acts 2 were earthly languages spoken by disciples who had not learned them. Mark 16:18 says they are immune to poison.
10. "GHW OPINION is Spirit baptism REPLACED water baptism."
No, see #4. IMO WB replaced circumcision. (Cf. Romans 4 & 6:3-4.)
11. "Being filled with the Holy Ghost means YOU ARE FILLED WITH LOVE."
Amen! (Matt. 22:37-40, 1John 4:7-21, John 13:35, Rom. 5:5, Gal. 5:6 & 22, etc.)
12. "Being filled with the Spirit and speaking in tongues was for that time."
No, tongues was a sign for some time, but love is a sign for all time. (1Corinthians 13)
13. "and was perverted by some into a faux gift of mere babbling."
Yes, which pagan religions practiced, and Paul discouraged in 1 Corinthians 14:19.
14. "The Kerygma - God's Requirement for Salvation":
Amen! See Lesson 2 in our website: <truthseekersfellowship.com>
15. "GW says WB was replaced with SB because they are two separate things."
Yes, GW in HB 7:18-10:1 teaches that the OC was superseded by the NT.
16. "one is an outward work that may be imitated, while the other is the inward faith in JESUS that is salvific."
Yes. We are saved by faith per Ephesians 2:8-9, although good works such as WB will follow per V.10.
17. "The Word: The accounts in the NT include both water baptism and speaking in tongues after receiving the infilling of the Holy Ghost as noted above." Only Acts associates WB with SIT. The epistles other than 1Corinthians 14 disassociate them.
18. "Just noticed this point: Yes, believers are either Spirit-filled or not, and love is the evidence of filling that justifies believing someone is filled (and the basis of spiritual unity) per John 13:35."
Yes, and also per Ephesians 3:16-19.
19. "Regarding speaking in tongues, the original occurrence at Pentecost..."
(in Acts 2:4-11) and for awhile longer was earthly languages given as a sign that fulfilled Joel 2:28-32 (cf. Isa. 28:11-12 cited in 1Cor.14:21), which reversed Babel and evangelized 3,000 people, thereby ensuring the planting of the first Christian church, but by the time of its occurrence in the church at Corinth it had morphed into a faux gift of mere babbling, which Paul tried to quash tactfully (1Cor. 14:19, possibly because pagan religions practiced it), writing that the gift would cease (1Cor. 13:8-13), so one should not be myopic and focus only on a problematic proof-text (1Cor. 14:18), ignoring the absence of affirming tongues in other Pauline epistles.

19. Regarding speaking in tongues, the original occurrence at Pentecost (in Acts 2:4-11) and for awhile longer was earthly languages given as a sign that fulfilled Joel 2:28-32 (cf.

I guess I have to keep thing simple and less confusing for you.

Just repeating the same respond does no good.

YOUR OPPINON OR GODS WORD WHO IS RIGHT?

4. "First, baptism in water and being filled with God's Spirit are TWO separate things."

YOU SAID,

IMO WB symbolizes SB.

IMO? IN MY OPINION???? WB symbolizes SB. IS THAT RIGHT???? YOUR OPINION?

SO FIRST ONE TO PROVE.

JUST ONE QUESTION,

PROVE WATER SYMBOLIZES SPIRIT BAPTISM.

I agree with keeping things simple and not repeating.
GW and correct interpretations of GW are right.

You said I said "IMO WB symbolizes SB", ignoring that I later said "IMO GW teaches that WB symbolizes SB",
which is an example of you ignoring some of GW.

It is obvious that water symbolizes spirit. Too simple?

So what, then YOU said this, IMO GW teaches that WB symbolizes SB.

This thread is GOD WORD OR MENS OPINION including YOUR'S.

Now that you shared YOUR OPINION PROVE IT WITH HIS WORD.

Just show me in HIS word what it says what you say it says.

Why can't we keep it simple if it's obvious it should be easy to prove it.

Yes, that is called moving the discussion forward rather than repeating and going in a circle.

You view the "Y" as a typo.

3. "Now that you shared YOUR OPINION PROVE IT WITH HIS WORD.

What Eli just posted on another thread is true here: "a LOT of concepts in the Bible
are not listed exactly word-for-word so if you say "where does it say in the Bible"
that's the wrong question sometimes. Because where does the Bible say the word "Trinity"?
It doesn't. But we all (i hope) believe in the Holy Trinity." Amen!

4. "Why can't we keep it simple if it's obvious it should be easy to prove it."
This refers to my saying "water symbolizes spirit", based on GW such as John 4:10, 7:38, & 1Pet. 3:21.

These were the questions

1. Prove being filled with the Holy Ghost fills us with love.

2. Prove water baptism was replaced spirit baptism.

3. Prove that speaking in tongues was morphed into mear babble.

4. Prove that speaking in tongues stopped.

Somehow you diverted to this, WB symbolizes SB.

NOW YOU SAY "water symbolizes spirit"

SO WHY DO WE HAVE TO PLAY PING PONG AS YOU SAY, WHY CAN'T YOU STAY ON ONE SUBJECT AT A TIME?

I THINK we know being water baptized in being immersed in water is that correct?

John 4:10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

JESUS is making reference to the Holy Ghost which was poured out on the day of Pentecost, Living water is the Holy Ghost is flowing out of us.

John 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

JESUS is making reference to the Holy Ghost which was poured out on the day of Pentecost, Living water is the Holy Ghost is flowing out of us.

1 Peter 3:21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

Means when we get baptized it's not washing the dirt off of our body but our conscience clear because we have obeyed what HE said we did what we have to do to remove our sins.

You did you and got me off track, NOW back to business.

GHW OPINION is
1. Spirit baptism REPLACED water baptism.

Prove water baptism was replaced spirit baptism.

After you answer this one 3 to go.

No need to share all we spoke of just back up your words with HIS.

1. Yes, WB means being immersed in water.
2. You seem to agree that water refers to the HS.
3. 1 Peter 3:21 means WB represents having a clear conscience because of faith in the atonement of Christ.
4. My view is that WB symbolizing SB superseded circumcision as the NT gospel superseded the OC per Hebrews 7:18-10:1.

Again, what we have here is a failure by you to harmonize GW in the same vein as Acts 2:38
with GW in the vein of Acts 16:31, Romans 10:9 and Ephesians 2:8-9.

Instead of kicking against the goad, IMO 1 Peter 3:21 provides the way the two veins can be viewed as being in one mine
(and we can be of one mind): "Water symbolizes baptism that now saves you--not the removal of dirt from the body
but the pledge of a good conscience toward God by [faith in] the [death and] resurrection [the atonement, Rom. 3:23] of Jesus Christ."

1. Good.
2. No it does not say that.

The question is, Prove water baptism replaced spirit baptism?

4. My view is that WB symbolizing SB superseded circumcision as the NT gospel superseded the OC per Hebrews 7:18-10:1.

With ALL DO RESPECT, what does your view matter?????????????

Hebrews 7:18 For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.

Hebrews 10:1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.

OT, if they did NOT obey OT circumcision commandment THEY WERE CUT OFF.

One could say being baptized in JESUS name is similar to OT circumcision.

Looks to me like you're thinking that water baptism was an OT command.

Being baptized in water for remission of sins in JESUS name did not start until after he ascended to Heaven in Acts 1.

John the Baptist introduced water baptism that was later modified to include the name of Jesus in association with Jesus' death, burial and resurrection. Obedience to the command is required of everyone living in the NT. Acts 2:38

Also, Spirit baptism didn't start until JESUS ascended to Heaven in Acts 2.

So tell me HOW does that PROVE water baptism replaced spirit baptism?

which was superseded by the baptism of Jesus with the HS.

I knew I sould not have tryed to explain anything with you.

How much simpler it would be IF YOU WOULD JUST ANSWER THE QUESTION!!

ALL OF THIS BACK AND FORTH BECAUSE YOU WILL NOT!

Is that supose to answer the question?

Is this correct?

Water baptism in JESUS name removes sins, something we have to do.

Bing filled with the Holy Ghost, is something JESUS does.

If so,

HOW CAN what JESUS has to do replace what we are commanded to do?

Mark 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

Thank you are you answering GWH's questions?

I knew I sould not have tryed to explain anything with you.

How much simpler it would be IF YOU WOULD JUST ANSWER THE QUESTION!!

ALL OF THIS BACK AND FORTH BECAUSE YOU WILL NOT!

Is that supose to answer the question?

Is this correct?

Water baptism in JESUS name removes sins, something we have to do.

Bing filled with the Holy Ghost, is something JESUS does.

If so,

HOW CAN what JESUS has to do replace what we are commanded to do?

That is why Jesus died per Romans 3:21-26 & 5:1-2, but saving faith is manifested by good works per Romans 6:11-14 (cf. Eph. 2:8-10),
and one of those commands was to WB per Acts 2:38, which symbolizes SB per 1Peter 3:21.

Again, instead of kicking against the goad, take the hint from 1 Peter 3:21 and understand the way the two veins/verses can be viewed as being in one mine (and we can be of one mind): "Water symbolizes baptism that now saves you--not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a good conscience toward God by [faith in] the [death and] resurrection [the atonement, Rom. 3:23] of Jesus Christ."

You people and your fights over semantics...
You guys are gonna get left behind for the tribulation while those who just let Gods' spirit lead them escape.

You people and your fights over semantics...
You guys are gonna get left behind for the tribulation while those who just let Gods' spirit lead them escape.

Semantics?

JESUS laid out a very clear message how to be reborn.

Believe, repent, get baptized in JESUS name for remission of sins and pray for HIM to fill us with HIS spirit like HE die HIS disciples in Acts 2:4. John 3:5 Acts 2:38.

Being reborn is the most important thing.

What it is, is people will NOT ACCEPT HIS word and think they are ok with JESUS, if they don't are they?

In my spirit I have a hard time dealing with men who say HIS word says something that it doesn't leading people astray.

Like the man-made sinners prayer, say this prayer and your saved!!! NOT BIBLE and so many people today accept it as it is.

Trust me I don't like this, but I'm not setting back and have someone tell other lies about GOD's word and claim them to be true.

Do I need to remind you.

Being baptized is a commandment that WE have to do.

Bing filled with HIS spirit is something JESUS has to do.

GODS word 0.

GWH'S oppinion 1.

Or do you need more time?

Lets move on to the second question.

Prove being filled with the Holy Ghost fills us with love.

I can show you 4 cases where people who were filled with the Holy Ghost and spoke in tongues.

Acts 2, 10, 19 and I can't show you where Paul was but we know he did.

Acts 8, I can't show you were they spoke in tongues but I can show you that Phillip knew they didn't get it and sent for John and Peter for them to come and pray to get it.

Can you show me where someone was filled with the Holy Ghost and was filled with love instead of speak in tongues.

Prove being filled with the Holy Ghost fills us with love.
