I'm a man that could walk as far as 5 miles anywhere in the city I live in. Everywhere I go, people say they see walking all over town. I even walked over county and state lines. I most I ever walked was 12 miles! Now I'm going to do most unthinkable thing I've ever done in history of long hikes. I'm going to walk from Charlotte all the way to Texas! I always wanted to visit the lone Star state. I can't afford the trip, I've been behind bills and the rents going up. I thinking I'll never get to chance to visit Texas, but , but at the age I'm an age I am now, with good health, I going to try to walk there! I want to do this, I except help from anyone including my family to make this trip! If can't afford to fly, take a train or, drive their, I'll walk there.

That’s an ambitious goal, and I admire the determination behind it, but walking from Charlotte to Texas is a completely different challenge from doing 5–12 mile walks around town. Depending on where in Texas you’re headed, you could be looking at well over 1,000 miles, so careful planning is essential. I’ve been doing some Iceland trip planning myself, and researching long-distance routes has made me appreciate how important it is to plan distances, rest stops, accommodation, and emergency options in advance. I’d recommend building up gradually with a shorter multi-day walking trip first. If that goes well, you can work toward a longer journey while still having the option of using buses or trains for difficult sections.

Wait until the temps get below 90 here--maybe by October!

While you wait, here is a song about Paul wanting to walk to Rome.

Happy trails!
