How many of us have bought cell phones and video games, computers and etc. for our children? Then my next question is how many of us actually understand this passage I know I didn't but it's becoming very clear the gifts I have given draw time and attention away from the Father. Shame on me for not breaking the cycle of repetition.

Mathew 7:11 9.Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10.Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11.So if you who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!…

That's not at all what the scripture is about. The point is that if even evil people will give good gifts to their children how much more the gifts of God, who is not evil, but the source of all love, are.

These are the things God wanted the Israelites to do, because the influence of the heathen would cause them to become corrupt. They could not live among them and be the way God wanted them to be. God asked them to stop this cold turkey, because they had been influenced anyway from the time they were in Egypt for 400 years. Generations corrupt like the Egyptians. They were born there and raised and did not know God until he brought them out of captivity. A lot of them hated they left because of the traditional influence. Cold turkey.

Well Ugly, that is exactly what it means or have you forgotten.

Matthew 19:14 13Then the little children were brought to Jesus for Him to place His hands on them and pray for them, and the disciples rebuked those who brought them. 14But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them! For the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.

GODS TRUTH dispute it with him, please keep me scripturally informed.

Now, do you believe the items that I named and any like it to be a GIFT or ROCK causing our children to sink further into darkness? Because remember unlike us the adults who should know better our children don't know the way to the FATHER.

So if you who are evil know how to give good gifts, I don't know about you, I can't think of a better gift than GOD THE FATHER.

we are evil, but we still give good gifts. there is nothing wrong with that. a device is a good gift.

As an adult, I may agree with you because I know how not to let it become an Idol as I am sure you do as well. Kids on the other hands have a hard time putting away something they enjoy, they play with it daily and it becomes a habit or a ritual and when we as parents try to remove those items even some of us parents have met with an issue or two. Imagine GOD reaching out to the same kids with these items!

Not sure why you use an unrelated scripture to prove that I'm "wrong".

The first part, broken down, says if your kid asks for a good thing would you give him a bad thing? It's a rhetorical question.
The answer is obviously no, as can be ascertained by the next part which says that even evil people know not to do that.
The last part says if evil people even know better then how much more will God give good things.

The scripture isn't about children. The scripture is to show that if evil people provide for their kids then a loving God will provide even more.

The scripture you "countered" with is about children. Different verse in a different chapter. Different subject.

Yet your pride and arrogance won't allow you to see what is so plain and simply written and let's you make connections that aren't there. And in the process you attempt to look down on me and condscend down to me.
A rather unimpressive display of your ability to understand what is obvious and also a poor showing of your character. Now that I know what to expect from you I know to avoid you because I know how little to expect.

These were my questions and my statement.

1. How many of us have bought cell phones and video games, computers and etc. for our children?
2. How many of us actually understand this passage (Matthew 7:9:11)? I know I didn't but it's becoming very clear the gifts I have given draw time and attention away from the Father. Shame on me for not breaking the cycle of repetition.

Matthew 7:9“ Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!

Luke 11:11“Which of you fathers, if your son asks for[SUP][/SUP] a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

As you can clearly see one gift provides pain, sorrow or distress, the other gift provides nourishment or substance and both passages are clearly a teaching passage as God shows his adult Children how to feed his infant Children and the way I understand the passage, this is done through substance and nourishment, not Ipads or cell phones, computers and etc……….. because these items will become idols in the lives of our children as money and cars and cell phones houses etc.... are in ours. Sorry, you found any of this offensive just ask for GODS revelation.
