God is love and love is an attribute of God. God is light and light is an attribute of God. He has all power, all knowledge and is everywhere present, these are attributes of God. God does not have to give grace to anyone and can withhold grace from anyone any time He chooses. However, He loves to be gracious and desires to be merciful. God saved us by grace through faith not because he had to but rather because He would honor any sinful man that would come to His Son by faith and believe.
The believer does not minister grace to others because he is required or has to, but rather because He was given grace when God was not required to. When we ask God for grace, God is not required to give but He gives it willfully of His own free volition. Grace is undeserved favor that we never deserve and God is not required to give it. We need His grace and God's plan is to develop a relationship that is based upon grace that He is not required to give.
God loves to give grace and does not despise the man that approaches Him with a humble and contrite heart. We are to never take for granted God's grace but at the same time realize that we can not live without it. When we are strong He makes us weak so that we have to depend on something that God is not required to give. We think as a son and child of God that we are entitled to God's grace, but we are not, yet He will make us depend upon Him by receiving His grace.
Is it any wonder why Paul said in (1Cor 15:9,10), 'I am what I am by the grace of God'.
9 For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.
10 But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
