I have been considering a lot of what people are saying about how I am present my ideas and convictions from a point of view using “I” statements. I am, I think, I feel, etc. and I can appreciate those who have called me out saying something to the effect of you need to take a back seat to God’s plans for your life.

Read Romans 7 and see how many "I's" are in there, that get in the way of truth form God through risen Son. that is what Paul 'I" see Paul trying to explain to each of us, as God Father leads through us to see, yes, take a back seat and trust God to lead in the risen Son for thee
That is not easy to see, yet once begin to see it, one is growing into maturity between God and them, at least me Hebrews 5:12- 6:3
