I took my S10 to get the exhaust put on and someone sabotaged the engine while that was happening.
Not happy about it, not happy at all.
But it is what it is and I am too deep to forget about it now. I pulled the engine back out today and tore it down. In 5 hours.
That is not an easy job and it is not a normal engine removal, being in a small vehicle like it was.
Quite pleased that I was able to do it, and have everything go smoothly for me.

I thank the Good Lord for His mercy and grace that He so generously bestows on me. I'm thinking I can go back to work next year, hopefully in the spring. And if I do it will be because of Him.
Unreal to think that I was near death not long ago and now able to take care of myself.
God is good!

That iconic red looks like a Cummins engine...
Don't know why it looks like that. The color is chevrolet orange.

Why would someone sabotage your engine?
Probably not necessarily sabotage. Probably someone revving the heck out of it because they liked the way open headers sounded.
One thing I do know, it was a good engine. It ran good, didn't smoke, didn't rattle. It was a crate engine in the near past. After inspecting this morn, I can tell you it was a very good motor. Clean inside. The Suburban had over 130k miles on it I took it out of, so you know it wasn't the original engine.
The muffler shop owner just lied every time I quizzed him, so he clearly was aware that it had a problem.
I'll tell you this - it didn't spin a main bearing pulling it 40 feet into the muffler shop, yet that's what he is wanting me to believe.
On top of that, the work he did is garbage. I'll have to throw away everything he did to it.
Now I have to sell my Blazer to have enough money to fix this thing.
Wes, the owner of C&W Muffler where I had it done, should get on his knees and thank God that I'm trying to go to heaven.

Since I have to redo the motor I'm going to make it a 383cid stroker. Won't cost much more. And I'll have 100 more horsepower.:D
But it will probably be sometimes next spring before my budget lets me work on it.:(

I'm really sorry to hear this, such a shame there are bad business people in the world. I don't know if I could maintain a Christian attitude if it were me. Good for you phil.

The rest of the truck won't last long with that engine in it.

For the cause of Christ
Roger

I think he meant that if that engine was a Cummins, your little S-10 probably wouldn't last long. He's probably right.
I see. That's why we have "reply with quote" options. :)
Then he'd be wrong. It will take awhile to get my budget off life support, but when I do it will have a 350hp 383 stroker motor in it. I have already started rounding up parts. :D

phil, can you please explain why you said this?
Kind of hard to talk to someone you only know as "Is". :p
My health is such that I am not able to work steady enough to make a living at it. For instance, it took me 2 or 3 months to do my S10. Kind of hard to pay the bills at that speed.
I show very encouraging times of improvement and then seem to deteriorate some.
I took the engine out of my S10 in one day, and have been hurting since. The best my back and legs felt was yesterday at 6pm. I finally felt sociable. If I work 5 hours and it takes 2 or 3 days to recover, it's gonna be hard to keep a job, y'reckon?

It has not been easy, I promise. I was very pleased with how it worked out. Fun to drive and dependable transportation, down the tubes in a few minutes.
The way I try to see it is this: All the time, money, and materials I had invested in this job was on loan from God. Wes is going to have to answer to God for how he treated an honest man. That's what reality is and that is the only way a person should see it.

Blame the site not me. When I registered it kept rejecting every user name I tried. I think I was trying to us "Jesus Is Lord" and the program just up and said it would accept "Is", so I just said what the hay who really cares about user names anyway, it's what we say that is important.

Yeah I guess it will be hard, I thought at one time you said you owned an auto repair business, so I thought just managing coudn't be that strenuous physically. I do understand where you are coming from. I've decided to start the new year with a clean stove, but it really kills my back hanging over the thing cleaning it and cleaning the grates. Guess I need to clean the thing more often and then it would be so back breaking, do yuh think?

Do you not want to talk about it? What is it you are improving from?

Was reading your tag (I don't now what it's called), it really would be miserable if our hope in Jesus Christ didn't take us beyond this present life.

Thought everyone knew, but, okay, I'll say it again.
I drank myself into the hospital in early 2011. On an IV for 6 days. They released me after 7 days. I came home, started drinking again and lapsed into a coma. Woke up in ICU a week later. went from there to a nursing home. Stayed in there for a year. Docs said I had ruined my liver, but it is fine now. I'm confident God healed me of all the alcohol related problems. At least the ones that were serious. Because of a year of inactivity my muscles pretty much atrophied. I came home feb 2012. My cooking is better than the nursing home and I gained 50 lbs before I knew it. That gain, coupled with my weakness, has accelerated an already bad back problem along with my knees. I have trouble getting up and down on a creeper to get under a car, and prolonged bending over puts me in distress. Thanks to pain meds, I can do a lot now, but I run out of pills before months end. So I make a choice, tolerable pain and do nothing all month, or get something done and hurt a week or 2 of the month.
But I have to be alive to complain so I better not holler very loud. God gave me another chance when I could very easily have died. Don't know why He did, but I'm glad for it.

No, I didn't know that. Have you been doing any kind of exercises to strenghen your muscles? Are you saying you don't have the money to replace your meds or are you saying you are trying to make a decision to get off them?

You're in my prayers phil (if that is your name :p), I've been in some really rough situations in my life and when I look back I know that it is by the grace of God that I am where I am today.

Thinking of you brother, here's a big hug for you bighug.gif

Phil,

thank you so much for such a beautiful 'witness', of REAL LIFE and how you obeyed God's principles
in dealing with the 'world'....

sometimes we are to allow ourselves to be 'defrauded' for the glory of God -

your example has its practical benefits, not only are you the better man for your stance,
because a lot of times when we allow ourselves to get caught-up in the world's courts
we are entangling ourselves in the affairs of the world needlessly or for the wrong reasons,
and by doing this we surely cannot serve our Lord as faithfully as we should...

as you have shown, before we take certain steps into the business of the world, we really need
to take our Father's advice, 'count the cost'...on every level.....
