Hallow everyone, can we discuss this bible text: It’s interesting

It says in Amos 8:11-13,
First (1[SUP]st[/SUP] )
Amos 8:11-13, [SUP]11 [/SUP]The Lord God says, “Look, the days are coming when I will cause a famine in the land. The people will not be hungry for bread. They will not be thirsty for water. No, they will be hungry for words from the Lord. [SUP]12 [/SUP]The people will wander around the country, from the Dead Sea to the Mediterranean Sea, and from the north part of the country to the east. They will go back and forth looking for a message from the Lord, but they will not find it. [SUP]13 [/SUP]At that time the beautiful young men and women will become weak from thirst.
if we know bible everywhere, Why will we (people) will look for the word of God and yet we will not find it and when we do not find it we (young men and women) will become weak from the thirst.

All of us (young, old, baby, poor rich) know the word of God and the world read bible and knows about it.

Bible does not specify which people (CHRISTANs OR NON-CHRISTIANS) but it does specify that its young man and women.

If everyone knows bible then what does it refer to?

Isaiah2:2-3
[SUP]2 [/SUP]In the last days the mountain of the Lord’s Temple will be thehighest of all mountains. It will be raised higher than the hills. There willbe a steady stream of people from all nations going there. [SUP]3 [/SUP]Peoplefrom many places will go there and say, “Come, let’s go up to the mountain ofthe Lord, to the Temple of the God of Jacob. Then God will teach us his way ofliving, and we will follow him.”
His teaching, the Lord’s message, will begin in Jerusalem on Mount Zion
and will go out to the entire world.

Then God will teach us his way of living, and we will follow him.”

For those who are lucky will know Gods teaching but for those who are unlucky it will be too late.

Zechariah 14:10
The city of Jerusalem will stay in the same place, but it will be built high above the land around it. It will reach from the Benjamin Gate to the First Gate

In Amos 8:9 "And it shall come to pass that in that day" says the Lord God, "That I will make the sun go down at noon, and darken the earth in broad day light".

It is interesting to take note and observe that what has been written in the bible as spoken by the Lord has already began. There are a lot of teachings that Christ taught his disciples which we draw knowledge from.

What is said in the passage of Amos 8:11-13 simply means that the time will come when people will be looking for someone to preach to them the word of "God". In Act 2:22-41, Peter delivers a message as a result of an occurrence that people witnessed. Most people, the young and old of our generation / time, which includes both Christians and non Christians they take the message of salvation and grace lightly.

If in a day, 3000 souls could be saved and be recorded in the book of "life" (Acts 2:41), is there anything wrong that the church of today is doing wrong?

Most people like to go with the flow, they want to associate with a denomination, institution, society. Its a petty that as you rightly said "we all have bibles", but the question is "have we accepted Jesus as our King, Lord, Redeemer etc...?"

What "some" christians don't understand is that we need the spirit and the word of God. we need to be filled by the holy spirit and operate in the spiritual realm. Its easy to say that we are christians, but our deeds only signalling the opposite. So when it is now late in the day (which the preacher calls it vanity - Ecclesiates), that will be the time when we start looking for that particular one who can minister unto us.

Rev 21:6-7. There is a message that we all need to preach, a message of hope, peace and love which is full of promises from our lord Jesus Christ.

He might be Asking for Something, sir. "knowing bible" in some wicked way, avoiding life might not be very valuable before O.

You said “already begun”, what has already begun. Please brother could you explain.
Than you.
Next,
Acts 2:41, says that, [SUP]41 [/SUP]Then those who accepted what Peter said were baptized. On that day about 3000 people were added to the group of believers.
Question
Do you know what baptised they received form peter. It is true that, they listen to the preaching/teaching but 3000 save and do you know what baptised they took and was added to the believers.

Thank you brethren,

First

having said "already began" is in the context of the scripture that a day will come where there will be a famine of the word of God.

I have seen many of my colleagues running & jumping from one "church" to another not necessarily looking for the word of god but for miracles. What the lord will do in them is a situation of dryness of the word that leaves them with a vaccum which can no longer be filled as they get used to watered and compromised preaching.

Secondly

Lest start with Act 2:22 Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know and end with verse 37 "Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?"

What is important from the above verse is that when you minister / share the gospel with some one they have to make a decision. Those that were present on that day made a choice by asking what should they do?

What was the significance of their question?
In any conversation that people partake, there is an element of "change and sharing" which influences the decision that one ends up making. Lets examine the conversation that Christ Jesus had with Nicodemus who was a ruler of the Jews. Their conversation was merely on what the other was seen doing. Nicodemus was Christ daily teaching. What Jesus was teaching was not the "Mosaic Law - Joh 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.". He was teaching about the Kingdom of Heaven, ever lasting life.

Nicodemus made a decision (from observation, hearing) though he did not understand what was the meaning of Jesus's preaching. He was a well grounded man as a "PRIEST". Lets just assume that a priest ought to know everything that there is to be known.

Like wise, when all the people who were gathered heard what Peter said, they were troubled and in a way seeked a "way out". Though it can be urged not to be a way out, it was the question that they asked "What should we do". Note that it's similar to what Nicodemus said to Jesus Christ.

Peter says unto them, "Repent, and be baptised every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost".

I believe that they received 2 baptism.

1. the baptism of water which is for repentance which was done byy John the Baptist (Mat 3:11 I indeed baptise you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptise you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

2. the baptism of the holy ghost and fire (Mat 3:11 he shall baptise you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire), why the baptism of the Holy Ghost and Fire? The second baptism is in the name of Jesus christ, "Mar 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every nation. Mar 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved".

Thank you and God bless

Dear friend Amos 8:11-13 is yet to come and the reason for that is still unknown to every one.
