My wife and I always had to stay away from it. We counseled too many ex-witches, and seen too much of the effects of Satan's work that is real.

When we were kids Halloween was a lot different, it's much darker now as much innocence is lost on today s youth, we didn't have all the gory junk they have now, we made our own costumes and just had fun. I believe if you take the original meaning of the holiday and turn it into something else you take away some of the evil power of that holiday. Today I think the world has lost too much innocence to really be able to have fun like we used to back then

i love those here with a different view every one be blessed allways and have a total heavenly blessed month of October amen.
It's all in your heart. If you're out to just blow off steam and have fun then it's harmless. The secular world has ways of stripping the spiritual from the holidays (look at what they've done with Christmas). BUT! Remember that it does have Satanic ties, and it is very easy to get sucked into a bad environment and in some fashion partake of that. On that night pray for discernment and be a witness in Christ if things go that way... even if that means you leave.
My bible study has centered in the OT these last three years. My teacher knows the culture of those times, and sometimes it almost seems I am with Joshua going into the promised land, or standing with the people waiting for Moses to come down from the mountain and wanting something I can actually see with my eyes to worship so I understand about the golden calves.
That said, it seems to me I can almost hear what our Triune God wants of us as we live in the world He created. (I think Jesus is One with the Father) We are to love the Lord with all our heart, with all our soul, and with all our might.
We are living among people who have most of their main interests different. They direct their life toward many other things, and maybe go to church if it is handy because there is a God, they say. They have fun parties, drive up in wonderful new cars. And yes, they have Halloween as part of the fun with witches and pranks. It was very inviting and seemed good in OT times, and it is very inviting and seems good in our times.
God set up a life for us to live, and God says to stay away from worldly life. The life pattern God gives is centered around love, families, church, food. God says this life brings joy, contentment, peace.

in guyana we dont really celebrate halloween, so you may want to say i dont really know what its all about so why are you talking. but this i know;Jesus wouldnt have condoned the celebration of halloween.
OFM, you are totally correct. so often we do things and we dont understand the depth of what we do. What we dont see is much more real that what we do see. the devil is always busy, yes, i agree. so maybe you might say halloween is really no different than any other nite. but i hate the darkness and evilness of halloween. how can we as christians participate in such an activity? are we not children of the light? imagine being ok with children dressed up as witches and all sorts of abominations to God.
In Guyana, there is a hindu national holiday called phagwah. phagwah celebration involves throwing dyes and water on each other. it seems so innocent and fun. in fact, almost everyone (christian,muslim,hindu) 'plays' phagwah. but i know that this is in celebration to their gods. i am not ignorant. i dont care what they say, or how innocent it looks..i would never indulge in something that. we are created to worship God. The true and living God. and that would not be an act of worship to my God.

Halloween ..."GLORIFIES" ....everything that God calls an abomination. The occult is anything but a harmless pastime, and to associate one's child with that aspect of it would be unwise. Halloween activities can lead children and adults to cultivate a fascination with the darker side of this holiday. the DOMINANT THEME of Halloween has always been one of witches, ghosts, spirits and the dead. Aside from the fascination with the dead, witchcraft is the most recurring theme in Halloween.
witchcraft is no laughing matter. From a biblical perspective ALL witchcraft is EVIL.
The bible teaches that the goal of the "evil spirits is to give false teachings to all who will receive them.... many learn to late after death....(2Corinthians 11:14; 1Tim. 4:v1) in the end, one either trusts the bible and denies the spirits or trusts the spirits and denies the bible.
The Scriptures condemn all sorcery as opposed to a proper sense of dependence upon God. In Galatians 5:20 witchcraft is listed as being one of the acts of the sinful nature. The book of Revelation contains several passages that condemn sorcery in the strongest terms (9:21; 18:23; 21:8; 22:15).
However innocent Halloween may be at one level, at another level it is very, very dangerous. Halloween/occult practices can open doors into the occult world that introduces forces into peoples lives that they often cannot control or combat.

Today some christians don't seem to convinced about the dangers of witchcraft. Several evangelists even say it is "harmless". BUT the history of witchcraft itself and the personal testimonies of ...... former witches....... contradict the "harmlessness of halloween". (if the testimony of Jesus Christ is not enough).
Halloween is not an innocent festival of fun and games. It has left a wide destructive path through all the ages. There are occult (hidden) strings attached. It is becoming more sinister as the years go by and Satan's hand is becoming more obvious to those who are taking notice. Happy Halloween? Don't believe it.

In partaking of Halloween, do we help, even indirectly, to publicize what may be the single most important day in the world of the occult? By our participation, do we give at least some credence to the occult simply because we participate in a day that originates in the world of the occult and is so special within it?
Also, the larger question this raises—that of Christians innocently participating in Halloween—is whether it involves a deliberate mockery of God on the part of the devil; i.e., to have God’s own children participate symbolically in celebrations that are tributes to Satan, pagan gods, and all kinds of evil?
Is it possible that we can see Satan deliberately mocking God by having children, and especially Christian children, actively participating in the symbolic activities on the very day which he, Satan, is most honored?
The effects of seeking out playful spirits are sometimes not discernible (such as an imperceptible yet increasing resistance to the gospel of Jesus)....... Non-Christians would think nothing of this consequence...... but if the gospel of Jesus is true....... which it is..... then one would have to be insane to have your belief hardened against the one true God....... which would have eternal consequences.

Beyond any stretch of the imagination, this night is a celebration of DARKNESS. We should not play games when the devil plays for keeps. This night witches & satanic covens all over the world are cursing God, blaspheming Jesus, eating raw human flesh, performing all kinds of twisted, perverted, unholy acts, from urinating on crosses to having black masses. The same night yours kids are trick or treating. whats wrong with this picture?

Yep, I also seem to remember it started out as Hallowed saints day
So a person was a saint oh well, very proud of em
Jesus said let the dead bury their own dead
In other words, theyre dead, gone, nothing we can do, lets get on with life and our duties
We dont have a John the baptist day
or a Paul day or a Solomon day etc
And for good reason, that would be somewhat like idolizing
Jesus said to follow him
Why not celebrate the one who died and came back to life and is still alive
and finally allow the dead to be buried, in more ways than one.
As Christians if were going to celebrate at all we were given the right way to do so within the one to remember and Celebrate life, not death

do this in remembrance of me.
I dont see how celebrating halloween is glorifying the will of the father
especially within the context of
"if any is not for me he is against me"
"and those who are friends of the world are enemies of God"
