Hard to keep faith

My family members keep getting sick. Four of my family members have died in the last five years. And three have cancer right now. I pray for them every day but I see no change in their condition. I'm afraid to lose anymore of my family. It's hard to keep faith when your prayers don't seem to be working. I don't know what else to do, my heart fills with worry for them every day. I don't understand why my prayers aren't working.

I know I speak for all who read your post, our love reaches out to you, you have and are going through, so much. So much loss, so much pain. But you know you are never abandoned, Jesus is with you, He hears your prayers but we are not promised healing. We are to have faith that it can and will occur, but we also have to have the faith to accept Gods will when it doesn't. Our prayers are not to be requests for our wants, but rather our worship. We are to love Him and trust Him in the difficult days, just as joyfully as in the happy days. This is our challenge...impossible without Him. Let Him carry you, rest with Him. Do not be in despair, rejoice that you do not need to worry! That you can pray that your family will grow close, share and be strong in this battle together. Love does cast out fear. We are all going to die, but we live eternally when we accept Christ as our saviour. So, our life is not over , we just 'go on ahead' going home to Jesus! You do not lose your family, you will just be apart for a time, not that long when we think we will all be together for eternity:) So, stand in the confidence of Gods promises and on your faith, allow God to give you His peace and to let His love flow amongst you all as His love will cast out your fears. yep Faith is hard, but the more you read your bible the easier it does become.

Everyone gets sick and dies. It's not a matter of faith, it's the human condition. What I don't get is how some people live their entire lives based upon God having a better place for us, yet when it's our turn to go there He has to drag us kicking and screaming the whole way. We will suffer as long and hard as humanly possible to avoid being with the One who we believe loves us more than anything else. My mom has been one foot in the grave for some time now, everyone else wails and crys and fears the day she finally goes. I on the other hand say mom, stop suffering and go home to where you will be well and whole and happy. The day she passes will NOT be the last I see of her, and if that's your belief then your faith is hollow.
 
Philippians 1:21 - For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.

Thot it might need clarification. And I just don't see how being set free to rejoice before the throne of God is a dampener on anything, especially when the alternative is continued suffering.

Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.
 
I'm sorry to hear you going through all this. May the Lord continually comfort and strengthen you and members of your family.

However, to address your concern over your prayers not being answered, i'll like to quickly share something i recently learnt about prayer, which is, sometimes the purpose of prayer is not to change the circumstance but to change us. In other words, when we pray in the mist of a trial or pain and it seems God has not answered, truth is He has. Most times we too shortsighted to see at that point what the answer is- He is changing our perspective towards the situation, thus giving us a reason to praise Him in the storm.

The Bible says count it all joy when you fall into various trials (James 1:1-4) If God is not changing the situation,then he is changing us (building our character/making us more like him). Rom 5:3-5 explains it further.

Many people are getting sick at this point in history, I'm sure it seems like you are the only one who is going through this difficult time, but many people can relate. I know that in and of itself probably isn't comforting, but be of good courage because the trials of this life serve to purify our lives of evil, God's will allows us to be sick so we can accept His love at the end of our lives.
It seems to me that what you need to do is apparent...
Be at Peace! This situation is in God's hands, not yours. It is not by your prayers that your family will be healed, but your prayers do help your family tenfold. What's the use of praying for a sick person who doesn't get better? The Love you display for your family is your salvation and road to Jesus' loving arms.
Praying for the sick helps you to be mindful of their needs, praying for the sick helps you to treat them better, that fact alone makes prayer the greatest weapon for fighting sickness.
The sick need love. The love of God is made manifest to us in our relationships with our family, friends, enemies and indeed entire world.
Be of good cheer, God has got this, there is no need to worry, there is only a need to be accepting of illness and compassionate toward the ill with peace.
Peace is every step, God bless you with the Peace of the Holy Spirit.
 
I'm so sorry.What a unfair and hard situation. I wish I had an answer for you.All I can say to you is please keep praying and please try to have hope. So many things happen that we don't understand,and it's hard to have faith.I don't know that your prayers aren't working,as God has His own timeline.The fact that you have kept up your prayers,shows your faith is strong.I'm praying for you and your family.
 
I am so sorry you are currently going through this... sometimes the events that we find on our paths are rough, hard to understand, and can even hurt how strong we stand on our faith... each one of us will face a different trial. Don't give up and stand strong, he will bring you victorious on the other side; great victory follows after a strong battle.
