For about the last three months or so, I have been drawn to watch only Christian broadcasts, podcasts and to pick up the Bible. Is anyone else noticing this sense of urgency or is it just me?
Has anyone noticed that they're drawn to read the Bible with urgency?

Thank you, John. I had no idea it was called Halaak. I will be sure to pursue it with notes and continued diligence. I used to be a news junkie but lately, I have tuned solely into the Christian broadcasts and podcasts. I am urged to pick up the Holy Bible and start reading asap. I cannot say this has happened to me before.

That sense of urgency should always be there for at least the following two reasons:
1. For the salvation of our own souls.
"Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls." (James 1:21)
2. To properly represent the kingdom of God to this world that others might be saved.
"Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God." (II Corinthians 5:20)
I looked up the Halaak and it doesn't seem to have any correlation with the urgency to read the Bible and to study. Can you refine what meaning you meant with this term?

My idea....start with what God has said. (Don't make Eve's mistake)
Then go about understanding what was said and why it was said in the manner it was said in.
This is partially accomplished with an expositional commentary. This one will explain original language and the nuances. It's Not a commentary on what it means....They are pricey and don't buy the ones by a televangelist...buy the "no name" ones in a good Christian bookstore. (Not the 700club)
But maybe it would be good to start with WHO is God? What is his Character? What can we say about God that is true and why?
That is found in a handy dandy book entitled "Knowledge of the Holy" by AW Tozer. It's inexpensive and if I had a copy I'd give it to you. Don't let it's language deter you. This book isn't exactly a denominational book. It just explains what Sovereign means when we say ,"God is Sovereign"....and why it's true.
Trust me...these are the good places to start with your quest. The other questions are coming. Have fun...just don't forget to pull your head out of the clouds from time to time and say hello.

It might be slang Yiddish for all I know...but it's the name and description of what you are experiencing currently. (I screwed up and didn't take notes)
If you google it, you'll find very strong language in its meaning but I'll take your word for it, that it's what I"m currently experiencing. And, I will ride this wave as long as I can. Clearly, it's for a reason
I will gladly accept the meaning, "the walk" and get on with it. I'm starting in the New Testament. I've learned enough to listen when senses like this give me a push.

Definitely, something is up. I have not ever had such a sense of urgency to read the Holy Bible and to surround what I listen to and watch, to be God's word vs secular tv and radio or podcasts. When I do change the channel to the news, I am quick to leave it behind and put on Christian networks. Interesting times.
I'm going to take your suggestions to heart and download these. I'm currently finishing my degree in English, so reading is not something I dread. Thank you in advance, JohnDB

I recall a specific time I experienced a "word of knowledge" from Him where he brought to me Isaiah 28, I knew the verse but needed to look up the address, "line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little, there a little". He is certainly drawing His own to Him as He always has, but much more accelerated in the last of the last days.
These are my experiences from my walk...had no one to guide me. But I got really deep when I was diagramming sentences from doing what is referred to as an inductive Bible study.
The rabbit hole is deep.
I have noticed myself and many have been guided to turn off the idiot tube for keeps and keep our minds "stayed on Him" as scripture teaches.
