Have I been a blessing to someone today?

Headlines about famine in East Africa greeted me today. And it saddens me.
Because someone, somewhere in this world, someone gets hungry.
And yet someone, somewhere in this same planet, someone has to throw away food (spoiled or excess food). Food that could have been shared to these hungry people.

I am now making a conscious effort to share a blessing to someone each day of my life, be it through simple words of encouragement, an sms asking how someone is (esp those I havent heard from lately), and foregoing buying starbucks then using that money to give food to someone in the street.
(Suicide and depression statistics have gone through the roof, and I just wish someone, has taken time to talk to these people...)

It is my fervent hope and prayer that I become a channel of blessing to someone and in turn, that someone be a blessing to others as well.

So, have you been a blessing to someone today?

A much needed question to fellow Christians! We get so caught up in life and the day to day, that we forget our priority is to bring glory to God. I think it's so important for Christians to evaluate daily what we can do to help others, and to be a blessing to those near and far :D I think making small steps, like the ones you have mentioned, are great starts, but no matter how much we do, the world will remain a fallen place. But we as Christians really do bring a much needed light to this dark place.
 
Hi dancing :) You are so right, sometimes we are not thankful enough with all what we have. It saddens me too that we throw away food everyday when someone in this world is dying for just a bite....We can be a blessing to someone when we share what we have, when we say thank you, or even with a smile. We can be a blessing in many ways. Thanks for reminding me this :) God bless you.

That is indeed true.

God leads us to who we can bless. Just today, I saw someone from class looking a bit down than usual, He was someone I normally just said-Hi or Bye to, but through God's grace, God gave me the courage to ask him what was bothering him. God made it possible for me to pray for this person, and be able to share the wonderful love of Jesus.
All it took was a couple of minutes, and then He said was feeling better. He was just overwhelmed with too many thoughts in his head he said. We exchanged numbers and I plan on inviting Him to church on Sunday.


May we all be a blessing to someone today, and may we shed light to those in the dark.

That is so true, its so heart wrenching :( But with people like you (and me) we can make a difference. Even in our small ways.

That is wonderful. We can do so much by just listening to someone in despair.
