Have I lost my capacity to praise? I am thinking today of how weary I am and, upon visiting a post, clicking a link, reading of a glorious rescue and how the man saved proclaimed that he constantly called out to Jesus and was rescued. I felt tears well up in my eyes, marveling at the wonder that is my Savior, and then I returned to the thread to reply and the posts were mocking cynicism. My heart shattered.

Have I lost the ability to celebrate You, Jesus? How have I become so jaded? Forgive me of my cynicism, forgive me of my darkened heart, my shattered soul, and the wounds that I've allowed to fester and keep me from praising You in the midst of the storms.

So, yes, I am weary and I couldn't pinpoint why I was so weary, but now I see. I am weary of being praise-less, of being cynical and dark and vapid and argumentative and jaded and desensitized to the fact that God has loved me, loves me still, patiently pursued me, sought me, bought me, cared for me, covered me, redeemed me, adopted me, called me daughter, accepted me, sheltered me, cleansed me, overcame me, lead me, spoke to me, hugged me, held me, sang songs over me, laughed with me, brought me smiles, wiped my tears, blessed me, anointed me, called me, granted me purpose, gave my life a vision and a call, empowered me, strengthened me, brought balance to my life, delivered me from bondages ... I could go on and on and on, and even if I did and repeated things, they would still be valid.

Yes. The reason for the weariness, the reason for the detachment, the reason for the anger and the cynicism and the pride and the loneliness is that I've lost my voice and I have ceased to be a worshiper, ceased to praise with all that I am.

And now that I know why I am weary, it is time for me to leave weariness behind, lift my hands and voice, and praise Him!
