Hi all, has anyone here tried and used a coffee body scrub before? I am seeing it come up on Instagram and Facebook more and more these different types of coffee body scrubs. Also it was on Dragons Den recently which got invested.

There's loads of different types of them, they all usually contain the main coffee ingredient but come with other things too like natural oils and vitamins. There's a coffee coconut one as well which I will definitely be trying because I'm just nuts about anything with coconuts in it as well, I love the smell!

Apparently the high caffeine content is very good for your skin when used topically as it stimulates blood flow, acts as a gentle and natural exfoliator buffing away dead, dry, flaky skin cells to reveal new soft, smoother skin. It is also said to be able to reduce the signs of cellulite and stretch marks and even heal most skin conditions up like acne, psoriasis, eczema, dermatitis, rosacea etc which is something I sometimes struggle with.

I was thinking about getting this one the frank body coconut coffee scrub from here. But have seen on Pinterest that you can make your own DIY coffee body scrub and there's many of them as well! Example, check out these DIY coffee body scrubs on Pinterest.

Am I just being too frugal here and really ought to just buy it? I mean its only about £10 and they say you get a few "sessions" from it. Or is it okay to make my own as well?

Have you ever made your own coffee body scrub?

Has it helped you?

Thanks!

Probably cheaper and healthier to make it yourself. Then you don't get all the chemical additives and whatnot.. :)

Hi ladybug, I think that's the point with these coffee body scrubs though in that they don't contain any additives just purely all natural ingredients. Their coconut only has coffee beans, grapeseed oil, coconut oil, jojoba beads and brown sugar in it.

So perhaps you're right I could probably just make my own using those same ingredients.

I might make the splurge once but could see the cost adding up if used all the time so might be cheaper to make your own.

But its what they say it can do and all those before and after photos as well that make it look appealing to try.

Check this video for some frank body before and after photos.

I make it myself..
Coffee powder+hot water a bit to make it a paste+oil of your choice (usually i use few drops of extra virgin olive oil).. i use it as face mask and i use the rest to body scrub.. and yeah i found my skin fresh ^^

I make it 1x use, not making in a jar.. because i didnt use preservatives.. you can add caffeinated powder too but i didnt have it (here, we must buy a bulk for it and i didnt want to..lol), add some essential oil..
oh and even if you just mix oil and dry ingredients (no water added) you still need preservatives.. just because you dont see any mold growing doesnt mean that there arent any unless you do laboratory test for that.. i know its just skin care product and arent necessary to be sterile like eye drop.. but if its me, i would put preservatives.. but then i'm too lazy so i just make it 1x/per use..

I also make sugar scrub too with coffee added, and coffee salt bar and even soaps..
with natural products you wont notice the difference in instant like chemical one.. but its worth it :)

Not yet, but I have watched youtube tutorial vids on how to make DIY lip balm. I love flavored balm and the only brand I've found so far that is all natural is Eos. I can lick my lips without wondering what I'm poisoning myself with. lol Plus, it's edible, and you can eat the leftover scrub. Except maybe for the jojoba beads, I dunno if they're edible or not.

Natural lipbalm is the best!

I make my own lipbalm!! its soooo good... ^^
and i didnt flavor it.. i know i will lick it if i flavor it.. huehehe.. but i didnt add coffee into my lipbalm.. only coconut oil, castor, beeswax, cocoa butter, and sunflower oil..
soon, i want to play using lanolin, avocado oil and sweet almond oil too ^^

No, I have not tried this yet, but I too am seeing it more and more. I did find it interesting and I thought I might give it a whirl eventually. Truth be told, I am always doing something, and I love natural DIY! Great post topic.

Rudimental...years ago, I ran across a coffee aromatic air freshener for your car that can be made in your kitchen. It called for a peeled apple rolled in coffee grounds and placed either in the ashtray or a small container that can be hidden in your automobile. As the apple rots, it's acidity mixes with the left-over coffee grounds and produces an aroma that can help cover over cigarette odor. Some people slice the apple up and simply mix it with a large portion of coffee and add a sprinkle of lemon juice over the mixture to ensure a good even 'breaking down" of the apple that does not leave a rotting smell.

I haven't tried the coffee scrub yet, but this morning I made my own sugar and olive oil body scrub - I have never felt so clean and my skin has never felt so baby soft!

A good detox for the skin (and body) and a way to make it healthier looking is to pour Epsom salt and apple cider vinegar into your bath.
