Once, long ago
I closed my eyes
and felt the warm summer breeze
shifting hairs on my arms
I listened to the sound of birds
chirping in the woods nearby
Soon came some people
their loud cars roared
They brought with them their booze
and the mountains of food
Loud conversations
turned into uncontrollable laughter
and the laughter into debauchery
The sun hid behind the clouds
breeze stopped
and birds went away
Even though I was also drunk
and I ate and laughed uncontrollably
I knew my soul went away too
It took twenty years for it to come back
Thank you Lord for awakening me
from the drunken haze of my youth
and granting me a new life
I closed my eyes
and felt the warm summer breeze
shifting hairs on my arms
I listened to the sound of birds
chirping in the woods nearby
Soon came some people
their loud cars roared
They brought with them their booze
and the mountains of food
Loud conversations
turned into uncontrollable laughter
and the laughter into debauchery
The sun hid behind the clouds
breeze stopped
and birds went away
Even though I was also drunk
and I ate and laughed uncontrollably
I knew my soul went away too
It took twenty years for it to come back
Thank you Lord for awakening me
from the drunken haze of my youth
and granting me a new life
