I was studying the book of Genesis chapter 16 recently,where we were told about Sarai (Sarah) desperation to have a child and thearrangement with Hagar (her maid) where her maid was given to Abram (Abraham)as a wife.
A clear study of event reveals the state of many of us:
1. Hagarwas not Gods choice or will for Abraham
2. Ishmaelthe product of the relationship with Abraham was not Gods will for Abraham andalso wasn’t recognize by God. (as God clearly refer to Isaac as ‘’your onlyson’’)
3. Hagarran away from the house into the wilderness, one can imagine her state–frustration, hopelessness, depression etc.
· Are you operating outside Gods will?
· Is your sin so red like crimson?
· Are you very far from him like Hagar in thewilderness?
· Do you feel disconnected from God
· Do you hear the voice of the accuser whisperingin your hear that God cannot hear you?
Listen,despite the circumstances around Hagar as listed above, God was watching over her.God sent his angel to her in Genesis 16:7; ‘’the angel of the Lord found her bya fountain in the way to Sur’’. Hagar full of surprise that God sees her statedin Gen 16:13 ‘’the God that seeth me’’.
Thepsalmist said in Psalm 139:8 ‘’ If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if Imake my bed in the depths, you are there’’.
Godis merciful and kind his faithfulness is forever. No matter your state, whenyou come back to him and call upon him, he will take you back and bless youlike the prodigal son. In the book of Romans 10:13 ‘’for whosoever shall callupon the name of the Lord shall be saved’’
Rememberthe thief by the cross received immediate pardon when Jesus declared ‘’todayyou will be with me in paradise’’.
Friends,we have assurance that He knows what we are passing through, he can see us fromthe microscope of heaven, he will abundantly pardon our sins when we call uponhim and he will bless us because he is a good God.
Speakto him today, go to him with all humility and broken heart and call upon him tointervene with a simple prayer like this LORD I KNOW YOU KNOW ALL ABOUT ME,HAVE MERCY ON ME AND INTERVENE IN MY SITUATION.
