Hey Everyone!!!
So this term (semester in other parts of the world) has been the most hectic!
I've never felt soooo under-pressure and stressed in my life! I'm not a headache person but recently I've been getting them. They start up at the front of my head, near my eyes. Soooo annoying!
Besides prayer and aspirin, are there other affordable/natural ways to prevent or cure these headaches and feelings of anxiety?

Coffee works for me, but I rarely drink it otherwise. I hear if you drink it a lot, the effect is diluted.

I know Chamomile tea works for stress and headaches. Though I'm not to sure what else.. you could try Lavender balm/oil or baths to help. I hope you start feeling better, God bless.

If they are intense, go to a doctor and make sure it's not caused by some underlying something.

If they are caused by stress it is likely to be one of two, or both, causing them:
Elevated blood pressure (again: doctor) or tense muscles. For the last, a massage is always good :) or, a long, warm shower/ bath. - Better yet, swimming in a heated pool if you have access to such.

PS: Coffee was mentioned: There are actually painkillers with caffeine, I think it affects the blood vessels (thus affecting the throbbing in the head), but keep in mind that a very high intake could start causing them again.

I would cure my daughters headache by simply asking her to tell me what stressful thing she had that day that brought it on. As we talked about it, she would laugh and say "oh, THAT!". Headache gone.

If stress is the trigger, they are most lightly tension headaches caused by muscle tension at based of neck (CT junction) running out into the shoulders (trapezius mus), which then feeds up into neck muscles and then up into temporalis/frontal muscles...

A couple of things you can do, firstly try and deal with your stress levels (try some vigorous exercise or just walking) and secondly, get somebody to massage your shoulder/neck area.

Unless you get it checked we would be all guessing but based upon what you said it is triggered by the stress of your studies and the area is around the eyes. So maybe it is eye strain when I had to do intensive studies I remember my optometrist suggesting to me to put a washcloth soaked in cold water and rest it on the eyes while lying down.

Drink a lot of water also and eat properly. The brain uses sugar for fuel although there is a lot of fat deposits so I was told. So check your diet not telling you to go eat a lot of candy and chocolate bars :).

Now for the stress of studying. Plan your studies. Check your exam dates and look at what work you have to cover. Get the gist of it all and be able to explain how each connect. Read once for the gist of it. Read again and then again and so on each time you read your understanding goes up.

Do questions everyday. Pay attention to what the teacher focuses on in class and look at the questions in the main text.

Most important of all when you pray ask God to show you what topics to learn for your exams. The more you feel prepared the less stressed out you will feel and the lesser the changes of the headaches.

PS for eyes dont forget your orange foods carrots and pumpkin :D

In the back and side of the head? Sounds like sinus. Go get some Tylenol Sinus Day Time and take two with water. For any other regular headache take two asprin with some water and you will be fine. Never mix any medications or chamomile tea, the real thing though, not tea bags. you can get it from a health food store or an organic food store.

If you get nauseous with the headache it cold be a migraine. That is caused by stress, and anxiety.
Learn to relax, perhaps that will help the stress that causes it.

You may need to find something that can relieve the stress. Maybe racquetball or some form of exercise. Also make sure you are not grinding your teeth at night. This will give you headaches the next day.

There may be a pressure point somewhere between your thumb and index finger. Maybe try pinching and holding that area.

Also, adding something to your diet might help you. Possibly vitamin C and almonds. (may want to do an internet search)

Stress is a big contributor for headaches. You need to take time to relax, give your stress and worry over to the Lord. Be sure you are getting plenty of water...I drink 60-90 ounces a day. A little caffeine is good for a headache but too much can cause them. Get exercise and try spending that time in praising God. You could also try meditation again focusing on God. The thing is taking time not focusing on the things that are stressing you out.
