Feelin lucky punk?

I've heard of people agreeing to marry someone if both of them aren't married by some given age, like 35, 40, 45, 50.

For example Jeff and Sarah are great friends in their mid 20s. But for some reason can't find someone to marry. They have really bad luck even getting a date. But they aren't really romantically interested in each other.

Yet out of frustration, they make a pact.
A coin toss of sorts.

If they aren't both married by 35, they agree to marry each other.

The coin has been flipped.

What are your thoughts on such a coin flip approach to marriage?
Is it good?
Dangerous?

Better than amassing a collection of cats?

I have some arrangement like this with one of my friends.

Neither of us take it seriously.

And It probably would work because our lives are so different. We would be merely occupying the same space.

I told a girl if she didn't marry by 30 I was marrying her...jokingly...although she has probably made someone a great wife at this point, she was a great girl.

So this is how we end up with crazy cat people....the coin has landed on tails too many times. Makes sense now.

I also have made an agreement of this sort with a good friend of mine. I'm not sure what to think about it honestly.....

I don't know how sincere she is about it, and I am not sure that I can hold to an agreement like this if she is serious.

Really... if two people enter into that sort of a "pact" with serious intent... I wonder
1) cowards... why don't you get married NOW???
2) Narcissists... who better do you think or expect you should get?
3) Damaged... why so lacking in worth or desperate for status?

I can't even get someone to ''marry me if were both not married by so and so age''

Somebody??? Anybody!!???????

Im going to be the crazy cat lady, and its already started.

Don't you have some Nigerian Boyfriend, that you've been calling. He sounds pretty desperate. I would get back on the phone and tell him to marry you if you turn 33 and are still single

I'll marry you Nod! :D Heck, I'll marry you tomorrow if u want. :p Just don't expect a big wedding..maybe just a cake and reception at McDonalds. :)

It does feel like one of those give up and arbitrarily settle "Volvo" threads.

Nah not quite a volvo settling.
More like optioning for the tin shack in montana to live in, instead of the ranch house in the burbs.

I will marry you under one condition: The cats do not join us on the honeymoon. :p
