When we read Pauls letters there’s alot of complex thinking he’s sharing with us. We can look at Paul’s epistles in a vacuum or can hear the gospel and the. Consider Paul’s epistles
an example of the latter Paul’s spirit and flesh doctrine
Jesus preaching the gospel
“Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”
John 3:5-6 KJV
Paul speaking from that foundational belief
“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.”
Galatians 5:16 KJV
The flesh always desires this type of fruit
“Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.”
Galatians 5:19-21 KJV
The Spirit causes this fruit
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.”
Galatians 5:22-26 KJV
one more short example Jesus preaching the gospel
“It is the spirit that quickeneth;
the flesh profiteth nothing:
the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”
John 6:63
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
John 5:24
Paul’s law of the spirit of life that overcomes death and holds no condemnation
“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.”
Romans 8:1-2 KJV
the old law was what Moses said , the new is what Christ said one is about sin and death one is about eternal life
“For the law was given by Moses,
but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.”
John 1:17
my point is Paul wasn’t inventing anything he was a believer of the gospel and one who was called to witness the truth of gospel to teach the gospel to offer revelation of the things Jesus said so the church can better understand the lord our savior
Paul can’t be understood by selectively choosing verses that are taken off of the foundation of the gospel Christ established and sent into the world for salvation.
make sure you never allow anyone to remove your saviors words from your salvation, the apostles would
Never approve
“If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; he is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.”
1 Timothy 6:3-5 KJV
if we have our faith in Jesus then we already know who to believe and put our trust in
