Ok so I have been worried about comitting the unforgivable sin as you all may know I was just wondering can someone EXPLAIN this piece of scripture for me clearly because I do not understand it, I don't mean saying like "oh don't worry Cloud you're fine" I mean what does it actually mean? Well here it is
Hebrews 6:4-8 (King James Version)

4For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
5And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
6If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.
7For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God:
8But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.

Alright, there's no hope. You're utterly forsaken.

People have given biblical explinations as to why you're alright in god's eye, I don't see why you made a whole other thread about it.

Cloud, I totally understand your need for assurance on this issue. To have even a tiny hint of what hell is like, and to feel that you may have messed up and could end up there, would scare the **** out of a believer. I've had satan whisper in my ear recently about just these same issues, but I am not letting him get a foothold there.

I have an idea of what those scriptures mean or what I've derived from them, but I don't feel comfortable in my knowledge to share. Hopefully someone will come along to help.

This ''sin'' in this passage is the same as the sin that leads to death in 1st John 5:16''apostasy'' and it is not that God would not accept them back, it is that the Apostate person or church will refuse to return to God.

Remember the story of the prodigal son. Neither the father nor anyone else went chasing after the boy. He had to come to his senses on his own, which he did.

The text of Hebrews 6 is indicating that there is nothing YOU can do to help someone else who has had all of those advantages but chooses to walk away.

Think about that generation of disciples. They lived in the shadow of the apostles. They witnessed miracles, etc. For someone to reject Christ under those conditions, what more could you possibly say to them to convince them?

I have been studying this passage for more than a day now and I am starting to see a little bit of hope. You know it says it is IMPOSSIBLE to bring them back to repentance? The Bible was made for man correct? So basically hebrews 6:4-8 tells us we cannot bring back people who have fallen away from Christ but it does not say it is impossible for them to be renewed to faith by the Holy Spirit does it? What do you think people?

I really think its talking about people that are so far gone, they cannot come back. Not because God cannot bring them back, but because they do not want to ever again. They've tasted the best God has to offer and yet unsatisfied with it, what else is there? It's not about backsliders, it's not about people who waver in their faith or between faiths, it's about truly unrepentant , hardened, sinners, who bring shame to Christ and the church. Their love (if they ever had it in the first place) turns to hate.

Peace be to you

Get down on your knees in a closet and pray

Your conscience is telling you to do something, you dont know what yet.It feels like your falling and your trying to grab on to someones hand.

Confess to God and tell him everything.I mean everything.

Pray Like you never have before
Read alot of the word so you know what God is like
Then you will know what is right to do,God will show you scripture that applies to you.Find your heart. It will cover a multitude of sins

Read Peter and Romans after Peter then Job then daniel
If you really seek the answer ;read

Love a friend in God
