Hebrews 8:1-3 ONT (Orthodox New Testament, Vol. 2), pp. 393-94.
"Now in reference to the things being spoken of, the chief point is: We have such a High Priest, Who sat down on the right of the throne of the majesty in the heavens, a Liturgist of the holies and of the tabernacle, the true one, which the Lord pitched, and not man. For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices; wherefore it is necessary for this One to have something also which He might offer. For if, indeed, He were on earth, He would not even be a priest, since there are priests who offer the gifts according to the law, who worship a copy and a shadow of the heavenly things, even as Moses had been divinely warned when he was about to execute the tabernacle; for, "See", saith He, "that thou make all things according to the pattern which was shown to thee in the mount." But now He hath attained a more excellent liturgy, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which hath been enacted upon better promises.
"For if that first covenant were blameless, a place for a second would not be sought. For finding fault with them, He saith, " "Behold, days are coming," saith the Lord , "and I will consummate a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah; " "not according to the covenant which I made with their fathers, in the day when I took hold of their hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they did not continue in My covenant, and I cared not for them." saith the Lord. "For this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days", saith the Lord: "I will give My laws into their mind, and write them upon their hearts; and I will be to them for a God and they shall be to Me for a people. " "And in no wise shall they teach each his neighbor, and each his brother, saying, "Know the Lord"; for all shall know Me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them " "For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawlessnesses in no wise will I remember any more" ". In the saying, "new", He hath made the first old. Now that which is becoming obsolete and growing old is near to disappearing."
