My name is Josh I am 36 years old I am an artist and cartoonist and I generally respect Jesus and the father but I will not say I know or love them I have a complicated history and church life. Maybe it would be more accurate to say I have a deep reverance for god but have not been in a proper relationship with him for a long time due to pain over legalism my OCD and scrupulicity dissorders.

Welcome to CC and thank you for your Candid intro Josh! My name is Peter and I'm here to make new Christian friends who are well grounded in the Faith.

However I completely understand and empathize where you are coming from with your story - I was raised Roman Catholic and the legalism and use of "Father" as the title of the Priest actually turned me into a deeply jaded Atheist.

The Lord sent the Holy Spirit through fellowship with a dear brother in Christ to give me a change of heart and help me come back to the crucial community and theology of the Church. I'll tell you this right off the bat - being honest and not sugarcoating your current relationship with the Lord is a great start because you aren't being deceitful or dishonest.

I really respect that and hope you can find fellowship, encouragement and maybe some answers to the questions I'm sure you have here. I'm younger than you are brother but there are some seriously wise and compassionate people here at CC who can shed some light and personal experience on where you are in your walk of Faith.

God bless you in Jesus' name and my the Father send the Holy Spirit to bring you comfort and strength 🙏
