Ive been looking to further my career, and life... Ive had many setback and paycuts and I have been on job interviews but the last job I interviewed for denied me cause I was too polite..actual words was that I am to reserved and nice but I have the skills and intelligence to do the work... I work in the IT field in NYC I was very upset to hear that my personality and following the way I think God would want us to be Polite is what denied me the opportunity.. Honestly after hearing that I feel terrible cause I rather it had been that I cant do the work instead of my personality...Please pray for me to keep striving and for the world and their expectations. Help me understand cause the world does not understand me
 
You need favor not to conform more to the world. Jesus was a leader, stood like a rock for truth, made people think, couldn't be stumped by religious experts, strong yet loving, I could go on. He is our perfect example. We are supposed to be more like him. Study him from what an employer today would think about him and emulate jesus' qualties. Pray for his help in being more like jesus and for favor in this world as you serve him. You may see polite as being nice, an employer may see that as weakness, inability to lead or perform under pressure. Instead of polite, say your firm but fair, loyal, not afraid to take a stand for truth, and agressivly seek self improvement. Don't say " I'm so polite I'm a push over" so to speak. With the favor of god, and a positive attitude you will do fine in your next interview. Then when you get a good job, give god the glory for his favor and personal and spiritual growth through him. I think the world's expectations have changed so much over the last couple of decades. What was once the American Dream of family and friends and a comfortable life is now "settling." I thought that way a lot when I was younger (granted I'm still pretty young), but it seems like people reach, and expect others to reach, for professional success ad a means of fulfillment. That never brings peace. I'm not saying you shouldn't go for the jobs you want, but people's ideas of success are so different from a Christian perspective. I pray that God will show you his path for your life and that you will trust him to do it.
