I recently found out that strong garlic water will deter and kill slugs. Also you can make your own wasp trap with a 2 liter bottle, small funnel, melted sugar in water , add some red food coloring(any bright color), and some dish soap.

If it can deter slugs ….. it should somewhat control moles …but I guess they eat worms also.

Do you have any ideas for moles?

They have been my biggest nemesis for my root veg’s . I have tried mole traps, sonic spikes..... even buried speakers in a 5 gal bucket in the ground and blasted rap music ….I figured that should be enough to scare anything away….

I have 3 helpful hints for gardening, all involve keeping the soil at it's best for growing veggies/flowers:

1. I save all my leftover food/table scraps, ie coffee grounds, vegetable matter, meats...etc... in a small bucket. When the bucket is full, I dig a hole in the garden and bury it.
2. Along the same lines, each autumn, I collect the bags of leaves the neighbors have raked up and bury them also in my garden area.
3. To keep the soil well aerated and to provide nitrates, I insure I have plenty of red wiggler worms to eat/digest the scraps/leaves and keep the soil at it's growing best. I order 2,000 worms annually from 'Uncle Jim's Worm Farm', about $65. And I plant them in my garden mid April. Here is the site for Uncle Jim's: Buy Red Wigglers Worm Composting and Vermicomposting supplies (unclejimswormfarm.com)

Good soil is the key.

I made a 'wasp trap' a number of years ago and they work well at trapping/killing wasps. BUT IT'S A BIG MISTAKE TO TRY AND ELIMINATE WASPS FROM THE GARDEN!!!!!!!!! So I no longer try and keep the wasps away!!!!!!!!!!!

Wasps are great pollinators and predators for garden pests, read further: Beneficial Wasps and You - National Garden Bureau - Good Garden Bugs (ngb.org)

Last year, for the first time ever, my garden was inundated with Japanese Beetles. I have no idea how they arrived in my garden but they completely destroyed my rose bushes and the leaves on my two fruit trees. I used chemical sprays and powders to kill them, but not until they destroyed everything. Any ideas on how to keep these beetles away?

To use 100 percent castor oil as a mole repellent, you must mix three parts castor oil with one part dish soap. You will need 4 tablespoons of this mixture to add to 1 gallon of water. Once the solution is mixed properly, it will need to be applied evenly to your yard with a spray bottle or sprayer.

When planting my vegetable garden I use for each plant 1 egg and a 1/4 of a banana. That plus fertilizer and manure, my tomato plants get 6-8ft tall. They yield alot of fruit.

Thank you ...I will give it a try. There should be no problem with this in the garden ...Right?

We had a small dish like that near our coffee station at work for fruit flies...

If possible, CATS, they do wonders on gophers, mice, etc. Just don't feed them too much and you're set, lol.

Plant what you like and what will grow
Plant flowerrs as they make you happy and give colour and bring bees and butterflies
Plant berries and birds will make their home in your garden

Dont make garden threads because as soon as you do that dozens of people will ruin it asking for advice on how to kill everything
