“BEIJING (AP) — Zhang Yazhou was sitting in the passenger seat of her Tesla Model 3 when she said she heard her father’s panicked voice: The brakes don’t work! Approaching a red light, her father swerved around two cars before plowing into an SUV and a sedan and crashing into a large concrete barrier.

Stunned, Zhang gazed at the deflating airbag in front of her. She could never have imagined what was to come: Tesla sued her for defamation for complaining publicly about the car’s brakes — and won. A Chinese court ordered Zhang to pay more than $23,000 in damages and publicly apologize to the $1.1 trillion company.”

got to be more to this:unsure:
It’s because of his relationship with the Chinese government , they are a communist oligarchy, these type of lawsuits are common as they do not have free speech in China.

If you read the full article, you’ll see that he sued individuals on social media as well.

I read some of the article and discovered she (Zhang) was making false claims.

Oh, apologies, it was from a news source and not your link, where she was saying the accident almost
killed everyone in the car, whereas the article also said she and her niece were uninjured.

Can you please post the link?
because this is the associated press and it’s the original reporting that all the other sources should be quoting.

I had closed the link already but I think this is it (from CTV):

https://www.ctvnews.ca/business/aut...ash-she-ended-up-having-to-pay-tesla-damages/

Part of the story:

The February 2021 crash in central China’s Henan province sent Zhang’s mother and father, who had a concussion, to the hospital for four days, medical records show. Zhang — who was unharmed in the accident, as was her baby niece —

Then later in same story ~~

After weeks of stewing, she draped her damaged car with a banner proclaiming “Tesla brake failure” in front of the Tesla dealership in Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan province, some 200 km (124 miles) from her home. She sat on the Tesla’s roof and blared her protest through a bullhorn: “Tesla Model 3 brakes failed,” she said. “A family of four almost died.” The next month, she parked her damaged car outside an auto show in Zhengzhou. It was all to no avail — Tesla refused to turn over the full data and mediation went nowhere.

Just something to consider:

It was just discovered that a similar news agency to AP (Reuters), has received at least 9 Million Dollars from the U.S. federal government to push false and biased stories supporting the political Left.

It is entirely possible that AP, as it's a similar agency, has also been receiving govt funding to push false and biased stories.
And who is auditing all of this corrupt spending, and trying to shut down all of these corrupt payoffs to media?
Oh, it's Elon Musk who is, at this very moment, trying to shut off all these corrupt payments to media, and expose the media.

Since the media has frequently been BOUGHT OFF by government agencies to support left-wing bias, and this has been proven and exposed, and it's Musk who is doing the exposing... I'm a little skeptical of articles that are suddenly coming out, worldwide, to slander Musk.
Maybe the stories are solid, maybe not... but there's reason to be skeptical.

I saw this report a few days ago. The court ruled basically that the driver was at fault but blamed the vehicle. People who go to court had better be certain of the facts. It may have been better if the driver had sued Tesla.

Tesla cars have continual monitoring. This is two edged. Advantages include lower insurance premiums for safe drivers who insure with Tesla. The reverse is true if a driver is unsafe. Personally, I dislike being spied on by anyone. However, we live in a surveillance society. I can't go shopping without Big Brother looking over my shoulder. But if people did not steal and try to commit fraud, companies would not spy on customers. That is a general comment, not on the Zhang case.

Tesla has been sued several times, losing a couple of cases and winning the others.

What is the source of this story and can they prove this? I am asking because it is imperative when you name big companies like this that you have proof or they sue you for defamation. Plus this does not tell all of the details. What was she able to actually prove in a court of law. You have to learn never to take stories like this at simple face value. What are the details and how did this case over time unfold. You see this story as it is leaves out a LOT of details. In terms of Law and legal issues in court being mitigated over in litigation you MUST always have every single detail. There has to be undeniable PROOF in black and white as well as video and sound evidence. You see it is so easy to react with emotions but another thing entirely to wait until all the details come out and we all know the whole story. I would say be careful and get the whole truth first. Unless what you put out there is air tight legally I would caution against this story. Many in the media are learning this lesson the hard way as lawyers are now scrutinizing what these people have said on air and holding them accountable to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars in defamation lawsuits. Be very careful.

Just as it was in NT days, more often than not, courts are not good places for resolving conflicts justly.
Paul rebuked the Church at Corinth sternly about that. He recommended the least in the church to be chosen to meditate instead of the world's judges.

Usually it's the wealthy who come out ahead because they can afford to pay better lawyers to spend the time and effort needed to win.
