Do not believe everything you read as I was in the Catholic church for 5 years and took their RCIA classes, and nowhere do they consider themselves Babylon. A Pope being the false prophet now that is another issue !!!

Why is that referenced in the Catholic Encyclopedia then? Ive never been catholic but have investigated why they believe what they believe to a degree. It seems to be entirely factually accurate that Rome being babylon is claimed as part of the reasoning behind Peter being there and initiation the succession process there.

Problem is that for one is that there is no actual proof that Peter was in Rome at the time the epistle was written, and second there is nothing in that scripture that says he was writing to Rome. That is pure speculation, and also the Catholic church has a number of different writings as well do they teach a false history.

For they say that Peter was the first pope, but that is completely false as the Catholic church did not even start tell the 4th century and Peter had been dead for some time before then.

That is why I said don't trust everything you read as you will get false information, especially when you use Catholic sources that not even all of them agree.

Apostle John and Daniel both when speaking on Babylon spoke as though they did not recognize it, and Daniel said it would be different then the previous systems that came before it, and John showed he did not recognize her so if it was the Catholic church in Rome and existed in his time he would have known who it was.

Rome is not in a desert and Mecca is on 7 hills also, also the worshiping style in Mecca is similar to that of the original Babylonian empire under Nebuchadnezzar. Also when Babylon is destroyed in Revelation it shows those mourning this destruction is throwing dust on their heads, and this is a Muslim custom and not a Catholic custom.

Oh i never said I agreed with what the encycolopedia says, I'm just saying. If you want to say the catholic church doesnt believe it you have to explain why they claim that is the case in the encyclopedia. I dont consider them a valid source for anything.

Well like I said before not all Catholic's believe the same way as this is a misconception that is fed to the public. For there is divisions that exist in the church that for some reason main stream media does not want to talk about very often.

Even some of them speak up at times against what the Pope says when they don't agree............

Thats a very valid point. I am not aware of how disagreements and divisions in the RCC work but that makes a lot of sense. Because not everyone believes it though, doesnt mean none of them believe it. That is a source worthy of being called an official catholic source though in my mind. Im actually really interested in Catholic history even though Im not a Catholic. I just like to learn. Are there any sources of Catholic origin that there are no internal disputes over? And who disputes the accuracy of the Catholic Encyclopedia within the Catholic Church? I would like to find out what those groups think of Catholic history.

What about Marks of a Christian? Spend so much time on mark of the beast - what about Marks of a Christian?

telling a conspiracy theorist to pay attention to the things of God is like telling a bee to pay attention to something other than honey...

I know, me, me (hands up in air) the mark of the beast is the
new Apple Pay feature. Finger print technology to pay for things
without ever getting out your card.

They have chips in them. Down with all iPhones! (Sorry couldn't resist :p).

Normal service now resumes......

Usually the simplest explanation is the right one

just wanted to point out that this is absolutely contrived.

here is "allah" in arabic:

Dcp7323-Edirne-Eski_Camii_Allah.jpg

and that should properly be read from right to left - the opposite of Greek.

Revelation specifically says six-hundred sixty & 6 is a number not a symbol-matching game across two different languages where you are free to turn some of the letters sideways and add other symbols willy-nilly.
