Hi, I am new in this website. This website is the best Christian forum and chat website ever! I just got banned from 1 Christian forum website because they said that I don't listen to advice, but the truth is that in that website they gave me really bad advice and that website was full of prideful fundamentalists who hated on me because I am not a fundamentalist and they thought that they are better than any other Christian. But in this website many people are nice to me and I got some good advice that restored my hopes too...

I hope I'll be respected here though... I don't want to be bashed by fundamentalists... :/

But dear Troubled,
you start out by bashing fundamentalists.
And you sound intolerant to me.

Now accusing persons of pride is probably the sin of judging, since we don't know what is in persons hearts.

As to fundamentalists, the term goes back to the fundamentalist-modernist controversy which was heated after WWI. There were those denying all the basics of Christianity. It was no longer debate between denominations over church government, how to water baptize, traditional denominational debates. Now it was debate over the basics. So the question arose, how much can you deny & still be a Christian? Can you believe that the Lord Jesus is not God and be considered a Christian? Can you deny the Bible and be considered a Christian?

The classical idea of fundamentalism, IMHO, was that while there were a few basics that all Christians must believe, much of the rest is legitimate difference of opinion. So Presbyterians who believed the deity of Christ & the Bible found they had more in common with Baptists who held those views, more in common than with modernists in their own denomination who could deny everything.

Here are basics, fundamentals:
1) Bible = God's word,
2) Trinity,
3) Jesus is both God and man,
4) virgin birth,
5) substitutionary atonement,
6) resurrection,
7) justification by faith.

If you deny those basic truths, don't be surprised if Bible-believing Christians do not accept you as a Christian. And believing those basic truths is not a legitimate cause for someone to attack a believer in them.

The news media has largely succeeded in redefining the term to mean fanatic or ultra-strict moralist.
But such is not the meaning.

What? I didn't mean to say that all fundamentalists are prideful! I said that SOME prideful ones who thought they are better than me bashed me... And by fundamentalists I mean the very strict Christians who spread conspiracy theories, try to control other people's lives, fear the world too much, and avoid things too much.

I can see that you have adopted the popular meaning of fundamentalists as they have been smeared in the media. I think that to whom you object are legalists and extreme separationists. At any rate, welcome; & I hope you find love here. You are likely to experience some bashing, to be sure, but that comes from a healthy measure of freedom of speech allowed here, for which I praise the Lord. So, put on your armor (if you are a born-again Christian), and advance. We wrestle not vs flesh & blood. Don't forget the helmet (Ephesians 6). The bonk unfortunately cometh.

Welcome, There is a diversity of Christians here, along with a few who are here to bash Christians. Caution, if you introduce, or participate in discussion of a controversial topic, expect the debate to be heated. It's not meant to bash anyone. Someone will always disagree with you. Please take it as disagreement.
 
Hi and welcome. I am a fundamentalist Christian as defined by Atwood in post #4.

Those you describe I have a problem with as well.

And if you ask questions and people come with hurtful answers, then remember Jesus on the cross said, "Father forgive them for they do not know what they do."
