I have a question that I can’t at a straight answer from on the internet. Maybe some of you will quickly tell me it’s demons but I assure you I have felt demons and it’s not fun at all. My question to a preacher is this. Why do I seem to attract spirits and even see them from time to time if I’m not supposed to speak to them? Why have the gift in the first place?

I’ve seen angels (two of them) once and mainly ghosts. I felt a demon in a field one time with my friend. Talk about a feeling of pure evil. All the cows in the field even stopped and were staring right at the point I was feeling the bad energy. I just want to understand why I see and feel these things since I was young. What purpose does it serve? Angels and demons I understand but why ghosts? I know they’re ghosts too. In fact one of the reasons I got baptized and became a Christian is because of said ghost. I found out the a lady committed suicide in our house and all my friends and my family saw her. I thankfully don’t live there anymore but the fact that it proved an afterlife was the last push I needed to believe. Before I was kind of agnostic. Hope that clears it up and thank you for your response.
 
I guess my real question is why have this ability if the Bible tells us not to communicate with the dead? What’s the purpose of having it?

Well if a ghost is the soul of a dead person trapped on the earth then according to the bible "it is appointed once for a man to die, then to judgment" does not allow for peoples souls to be left on earth. There is no biblical precedent for ghosts. Typically the view of ghosts by Christian's is that they are demons.
Discernment is a gift. While I haven't frequently seen things there have been a few moments where I was shown something evil. And have heard stories by others where they've seen things.
Also you can consider it being a ploy to attempt to cause confusion (which seems to be working).
I'd suggest one or both of those suggestions.

And that’s the answer I always get. The Bible has several references to ghosts. If I understand what I’ve read most souls go to sleep swaying to be raised by Christ in judgement. However and this is just a thought what if some are not at rest. Jesus said to His disciples on the sea touch me and see that I’m not a ghost not the simple answer of guys there’s no such things as ghosts. And as far as leading me away if that ghost in my house was a demon that she did a horrible job because it led me to believe and give my life for Christ. I just am not sure what God wants me to do with this talent/ability/gift. Btw I took a spiritual gifts test and was surprised that my strongest gift was discernment of spirits. The ability to tell whether it is Godly, worldly, or demonic. It surprised me because I’m an artist and I thought that was what it would be. I’m not trying to argue just understand. I gave my life to Christ in baptism in 1995 so I’m not new but I’ve bever heard an answer that makes me say ok I get it regarding this.

You are right ghost are demons, devils. They try to be legitimized and take the look of humans. Did you ever notice how the demon , devil uses a bad event and begins haunting that very place then people go and research the area. The event might be true but that is no human spirit. many times these people who experience this paranormal garbage higher mediums and diviners, instead of Holy people to expel it? These mediums start carrying on conversations with whatever evil spirit is there. The devil has gotten the seeker hook , line and sinker and got them to embrace necromancers and soothsayer, and mediums. All that God told us to avoid.

If you have a legit ability it will be accompanied by understanding. For God does not give of the spiritual gifts without understanding.
Paul and Silas Imprisoned Acts 16:16-18
16One day as we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a slave girl with a spirit of clairvoyance, who earned a large income for her masters by fortune-telling. 17This girl followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who are proclaiming to you the way of salvation.” 18She continued this for many days. Eventually Paul grew so aggravated that he turned and said to the spirit, “In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!” And the spirit left her at that very moment.…
Not all abilities are from the Holy Spirit. This slave girl had a spirit which mixed lie with the truth. It is true the men are holy, obviously a demon even knows that. Paul and his friend wanted no attention. She was drawing too much attention to them and they certainly needed no help from her to do anything. Any acquired attention was to be directed to them under God's authority not a demon or devil's

You’ve given me an obvious demon possessed woman. “Even demons believe and shutter” or the instance of the demons and the swine who proclaimed Jesus as the son of the most high. I know this stuff guys. It’s not answering my question. I can discern whether it’s a demon or not. The ghosts I’ve seen or felt have never said anything to sway my mind on my beliefs. I’m just wondering why I see and feel what i do. I don’t expect many to understand. The witch of Endor summoned Samuel from the grave. (A ghost) for instance. I am thankful for your time. May Jesus Christ the Lord of our lives be with you. PS like I said I’m not trying to argue but your comment I beg to differ sure seemed defensive.

If you’re asking why you see such things, then you’re asking the wrong people.

It’s God who you should be seeking and asking Him.

GOD is not about confusion. Jesus even spoke in parables so people could understand. Seek answers from GOD. Anything else is lies and deception from satan. We each have spiritual gifts. If you know this gift is from GOD then don’t question it. Embrace it and use it to glorify Him. Welcome to CC. Stick around and give GOD a chance to calm you and teach you. I gave biblical answers and you said it's not good enough.
Like so many you come here looking, not for an answer, but to hear what you want. A waste of peoples time that give you facts that you ignore in favor of what you want.
Your reference to Samuel is pre-crucifixion when people were still trapped in Abraham's Boosom. After the crucifixion (now) people no longer stay trapped there. Rather they are "appointed once to die... and then... to judgment".
Jesus showed us people in hell cannot interact with people on the earth. And it's fair to believe the same also applies to heaven.

I believe ghosts are demons masqurading as ghosts..

I don't know what advantage it would give you but i would give a few ideas..

You would be the first to know if a house or building is occupied by demons..

You would probably know if a person is possesed by a demon..

You may be able to tell if a preacher is under the influence of demons and therefore know what he is preaching is deception..

1 John 4: KJV
1 "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world."

Seems to me that you would be a prime candidate to become an exorcist and cast out demons..

A question :: How long have you been a Christian?
