Shattered and battered, life had lost its meaning,
Shame and pain, my constant companions;
I didn't even love myself why should someone else love me?
'Ending it all' seemed like the best thing to do.
I knelt on the floor, too exhausted to keep pushing,
Then like the feel of a feather I felt His palm on my shoulder;
With blurry eyes I looked up,
With His finger, He wiped my tears away.
Raised me to my feet, called me beloved,
Sang to me of my worth and the beautiful plans He had for me;
Washed my sins away, turned my sorrows into joy,
In less than a moment, I wanted to live again.
I have loved you before you were formed,
I love you even now He said;
I'll hold your hands and walk you through life if you'll let me,
Your burdens I'm more than willing to carry.
I died on the Cross of Calvary for you,
Shed my blood for you, my love for you beyond the nails kept me on the cross,
What more would I not do for you?
Just give them all to me He pleaded.
There and then, life soul, and body,
Withholding nothing, I gave them all to Him;
Now my life a miracle to behold,
His love for me has made me whole!
