How can we hope that Jesus fulfills our desire if they are evil?
I know that this assertion is very strong. Nevertheless, take heed in what Paul said:
• “Likewise the Spirit also helps our infirmities. For *we do not know what we should pray for as we ought*, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” (Rom 8:26).
As long as our wishes are evil, their accomplishment will harm many people around us:
• “The desire fulfilled is sweet to the soul, but it is hateful to fools to turn from evil.” (Pro 13:19).
So, let’s not be like the fools who hate to throw over the evil. If we believe in Jesus, why do we cogitate the evil to supply our needs? By any chance there is some necessity in our life for which there isn’t any promise of the Creator to supply it?
Understand: if a promise isn’t fulfilled in our life, it is because we aren’t complying with all the prerequisites.
And don’t think that these requirements are difficult. It is us who are difficult:
• As Adam, the Creator put us in a paradise (at least it is thus that our home ought to be), but we perdure on trying to find out things that can ameliorate this paradise (for instance, looking for affairs, entertainment with colleagues, etc.). Believe: nobody has ideas better than Jesus Christ. Accept what He imparted to you, as petty as this seems to your eyes.
• Jesus promised give rest for those who are tired from carrying heavy loads (Mat 11:28), but we are like a heifer that is taught, that loveth to tread out the grain (Hosea 10:11).
• Jesus promised to grant us life in plenty (John 10:10) and His peace (John 14:27), but we insist on feeding the feud only for the “privilege” of seeing the other one suffering.
So, have a good day enjoying the love, peace and joy of Christ in the minimal things that He bestow you with so much fondness.
