I was friends with a guy from middle school through high school and til my 3rd year in college. Then we finally decided to make our friendship into a relationship. I was happy, he was happy. I was a college student, he was in the Navy. We weren't a traditional couple, with being both interracial and long distance, but neither of that bothered us. Then about five months ago, he came back from overseas and broke things off with me to be with a girl he dated in high school. We haven't spoken since. I was crushed! he was my best friend and first boyfriend! How can I forgive him?

It will take time. Give yourself that time. That you WANT to forgive and heal is a good start. I'm sorry you are hurting so deeply.

We aren't the same people in high school that we will be when we become adults. Sometimes what we want in life changes. People will hurt us, but holding onto that will only make us bitter and unhappy in the long run. Hopefully, there will come a time when you will look back on that relationship and remember the good things about him and learn what you can from that relationship in a positive way.

Forgiveness is a decision rather than a feeling........you'll find the more you forgive him, the more you'll want to forgive. I say the more you forgive, because it may well take a few forgiveness prayers.

It's not a case of forgiving what they've done, it's separating them from the action, and ultimately trusting God to be the just judge of that person. Praying still that they'll come to a place of repentance.

Speak to God, He understands how much it hurts, and say even though you can't forgive what he's done, you want to forgive him.........
It's not always easy, but Gods forgiven us so much, and the more we forgive, the more blessed we'll be :)

What sin did he commit against you? He only decided what was right in his heart. You are heartbroken, not a victim of injustice (although it may feel that way). What you need is time to heal more than anything. Trying to figure out how to forgive someone who has not committed sin against you can only make your suffering greater. Your heart is hurting because you lost something dear to you, not because you have been sinned against. The good news is that God indeed mends the brokenhearted, so abandon your negative feelings towards your ex and ask God to mend your broken heart instead.

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
