It seems like today more and more people are pushing against the church because of pain from the church. I'm hearing about how the Christians/the church are judging people rather than helping. I can speak from my own experiences where the judgement of my own or other peoples appearance or even that persons struggles with sin was met with shunning or gossip. Instead of an open armed welcome (which we're called to do) I keep seeing a disassociation from that person or persons. How can we respectfully address this issue? Why are so many of our brothers and sisters spitting judgement and hate first and how can we kindly educate them on what Jesus really says we should do when we don't agree with someone's life choices? Does it start with leadership? What are we called to do? I want to speak on this with my community but I also want to make sure I come correctly and humbly. What do you guys think?

I think blogs are for rambling to yourself. Not many people respond to blogs on average. If you are looking for a discussion using the forums is more effective.
Just avoid the BDF (Bible Discussion Forum), the people there are the kind you're talking about. And quite unwilling to change.

But while I'm here I think it's important to note that, within the church, some degree of judging is expected from us. Not harshly, but when people need to be called out it needs to be done. We do know that, after a point, Paul instructed a church to banish some members for willful and unapologetic sins they did not hide. This was, of course, after many approaches privately to them. Paul went as far to criticize the church for not acting sooner.
From my perspective Christians fall into two categories typically. The first being the kind you are discussing. The second ones being the polar opposites that want to quote cliche bible verses at everyone's problems, pat them on the back. "Loving" is the term for this. And they stay all hippy until someone more honest comes along, then you see their fangs.

So there is a balance to be had between love and judgment.

It's my experience that religious bullies are quite difficult to get to. Jesus tried and was murdered for it. The many we have here in the BDF have seen the effects of their behavior, been shown the bible verses and other approaches by many over the years and they have not softened in the slightest.
Pride is the sin of Satan, that lead to his downfall.
It's so difficult to change pride because to change requires being humble. People proud in themselves seem unable to grasp humility. At least until God puts them in their place. Just ask Paul.

I think the easier thing is to be the example ourselves. And those that aren't so prideful you can teach better ways to act biblically. The prideful know all the answers, yet it doesn't cut through their hearts.

But i do admit to this flaw. Not in quite the same manner as the BDFers, as I am no biblical scholar. There are some topics i don't even have a belief on. I do struggle at times, though. But I am working on it. Even in my own posts you can see the struggle. Some posts I am easier on people, but I can turn and snap at people at times as well.
Though many times people also assume I'm being a jerk when I'm not. So it makes it... interesting for me haha.

On a separate note, if/when you repost this, or any new longer posts, remember to use paragraphs. The longer a post without paragraphs and breaks the fewer number of people will even attempt to read it

Thank you very much for the the tips! Also thank you for your input you definitely have helped me see another side to the issue and look at it on a broader scale. I'm gonna repost lol thank you
