how do we know God's will?

my husband and i are thinking of moving to another town. we know the town well.... our oldest son play peewee football there. we are thinking we would like to move there. the small town we live in seems dead in the water..... don't change it because it has been that way for 100 years..... we want more for our boys and ourselves. how do we know moving is God's will? how do we know we are choosing the right place for us and where God wants us? we want to make the best decision for our family.
 
I asked my Pastor about this sort of decision making and he said "by two or three witnesses let all things be established". He said when He and His wife moved from USA to NZ his wife had a scripture from God first bout 3 yrs before the move, she never told him so as not to influence things, closer to the time he got scripture and the knowing it was time to go, they then discussed it and waited, then there Pastor came to them and said he had felt they were moving on.....then they went.
I dont know if you would have to follow this formula but thoought id put it out there for you. Hope it helps and whatever you decide you have happy fulfilled lives :-)
 
Well, God's will is our peace. The question is are we making choices alined in God's favor?

When we do choose for God, we have peace even when wrong/illness comes our way, we have a godly assurance that we are still in God's hands.

For example, the town you are praying to move to, have you searched for (found) godly fellowship to worship God there? Is the school district one of those liberal & politically "correct" districts? Are you willing to sacrifice your children to that district's error?

You and spouse should pray about these realities and faithful is the Lord which will lead you in His peace. May the Lord lead you in your moving endeavors.
 
I would pray that God reveals His will to you, and then consciously listen to the Spirit for it! Often times we are not really listening...in 1 Kings 19:12, it says:

12 And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper.

God's voice being described as a "gentle whisper", is key. With everything else going on, its hard to hear that gentle whisper without prayerfully taking time to hear it.

moving is God's will if you can't afford the place you are staying, if you have another shelter to go to, unless your gonna want and survive in nature

why worried?

I am not part of a big family, but it makes common sense to ask all invovled how they feel about the decision and what impact it will have on them.

Go where you'll be at your best.

How To Ascertain The Will Of God

1. I seek at the beginning to get my heart into such a state that it has no will of its own in regard to a given matter. Nine-tenths of the trouble with people generally is just here. Nine-tenths of the difficulties are overcome when our hearts are ready to do the LORD's will, whatever it may be. When one is truly in this state, it is usually but a little way to the knowledge of what His will is.

2. Having done this, I do not leave the result to feeling or simple impression. If so, I make myself liable to great delusions.

3. I seek the Will of the Spirit of God through, or in connection with, the Word of God. The Spirit and the Word must be combined. If I look to the Spirit alone without the Word, I lay myself open to great delusions also. If the Holy Ghost guides us at all, He will do it according to the Scriptures and never contrary to them.

4. Next I take into account providential circumstances. These often plainly indicate God's Will in connection with His Word and Spirit.

5. I ask God in prayer to reveal His Will to me aright.

6. Thus, through prayer to God, the study of the Word, and reflection, I come to a deliberate judgment according to the best of my ability and knowledge, and if my mind is thus at peace, and continues so after two or three more petitions, I proceed accordingly. In trivial matters, and in transactions involving most important issues, I have found this method always effective.​
 
i was wonderin the same thing cuzz i can do soo much when it comes to God i can dance, rap, sing, even i am gifted to make music i can do so much when it comes to God yet, i dont know exactly what he wants me to do beacause , many prophets and pastors have told me i was sent here to do something great i just need guidance on what it is....

I know the feeling, I feel that way about where I live

I've been told that it has to do something with the spirit and consciousness of the people.

Like living on a farm versus living in the city.

Maybe you would like something where you grew up as a child, or someplace peaceful and safe, that will meet your needs.

Grab a globe or a map, or turn on the weather channel on tv and just envsion where you should live.
