I’m intrigued into seeing on how you guys all deal with fighting temptation and not acting on them.
Here is my example how I may not choose to act. It may seem odd on my mindset but this is how I sort of cope with certain ones.

I’m a huge bodybuilding person, I mean I love the fact a person can change there entire body structure to how they please with proper dedication. Now some may laugh or think I’m a bit odd but here is how I use it as a tool to stay on course.
Let’s say I’m dealing with the thought of sex, the temptation of it. It’s right in your face at gyms everywhere. The women and men dress loosely and it’s very easy to find a woman or man that’s sexually attractive. So in this environment it’s highly likely to feel tempted. For me personally I train hard and don’t talk to people or very few, maybe every so many months I get absorbed in a conversation. But I’m very strict with myself and believe I’m there for a purpose. Women aren’t one of them. However I have had women approach me and it could be easy to get lost in the wrong reasons for going to the gym. However I realize it is the body I have that has made that occur . So for me. Instead of getting high on myself, I feel a pressure to obtain that body image. So in a sense I feel my worth is based on my looks. So if I give into sex and women from that gym I’m at. It will case my temple and sense of peace after work to not be so peaceful. I will lose motivation and the goal I have. So when I get weak. I sense that I’m being weak, and instead of acting I punish myself in the gym more and more. The end result is amazing. I remain celibate, my body ends up looking better and I remain pure and confident in myself and don’t have sexual guilt. I use this also in a form for avoiding alcohol. If I drink my peace of mind and training will collapse. My body will look worse. So my goal is more important that a instant gratification or feeling.

Deep down the real reasoning for abstaining from all these temptations is for god and to live more righteous.

Can anyone else understand or use certain odd methods to avoid doing ungodly works?

Mmm, interesting. I like working out as well. I have been doing so seriously since I was about 12. I am over 30 now, but I have a home gym. It is definitely challenging, though. Michael Van Vlymen says something along the lines of: he will not even let himself look at women in bikinis if he feels it will tempt him. People laugh, but hey, however you stay the course, who cares. Just get into heaven. Personally speaking, I have found that taking up more hobbies is a good way to distract from sensual things.

So your not alone. Certainly not!

See things in truth.

Drugs and alcohol give a few moments of respite from a life that gets worse from being ignored.

Fornication gives a few moments of delusional pleasure at the risk of disease, harming someone's child (even if they are now adult), as well as setting in motion a self-destructive spiral.

Seeking wealth, fame, power, or prominence elevates self and the flesh.

If one can see things in truth, temptation becomes less tempting.

I can understand. I quit the gym and the pool because of the "distractions". I could not even get on the treadmill without some sleaze on the screen. It's different now because the retirement village has a gym. I'm usually alone when I train.

Being tempted is not sin. We do not have to give into it. I was at a loss as to how to deal with a particular temptation. I prayed and God reminded me to resist the devil and he would flee. I did and I got the freedom that I Longed for.

We need to know that we have died to sin. Sin looms way too large in our minds. Believers are often so focused on sin that they forget that Lord Jesus has won the victory for us. We can read these truths in Bible for years and yet not see the truth. We should ask God to open our eyes to see the victory over sin that Jesus gives us.

For me, I have turned my life over to God. Does that mean I will not get tempted or even mindfully imagine?
God forbid, I am human, I am not perfect and cannot attain perfection, nor anyone else can anyone else, not of any self or group efforts?

2 Cor 10:5-6
Does that mean to quit and not want to do right? God forbid! One has to want to before one can see how to by God living through therm in their place, I call that the exchanged life, my life for God's risen Son's life. Now, unless one, anyone is willing it will not happen, being too busy trying to do it themselves. The Disciples at Pentecost, did they do the speaking to the others there then? Or was it Father speaking through therm to the crowd there then? They did not know the tongues of others, yet the others heard them in thier own languages. And then they spoke back to the disciples. The Disciples heard them in thier own launguage and knew they believed too, wow woe is me. The we see this passed onto the Gentiles later in /Acts 9 and 10, 11 I think. However read it for yourselves
God loves us all y'all it is not a competition it is salvation given to appreciate and not use for any self gain or to be better than others ever, it is Forgiveness given, Luke 18:9-14
I need God Father and Son's lead anyone else? 2 Cor 12:7-10 Thank you Lord fr this gift,

Wear sunglasses when you work out. Anything to dull the sensation, or the frequency, of stimuli helps.

Try being brutally honest. When a woman approaches you, or you want to speak with one, if it starts getting anything more than casual, let the first thing out of your mouth be something like "I believe in Christ and living a godly life, do you". Most of the time that will probably end it right there. And who knows, it might open up a door for you to find a mate.

Creating new law for yourself usually ends in failure, guilt and condemnation.

If failing produces guilt or condemnation, you’ve made a little law.

Grace sanctifies through identity, not rules.

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"

The book of 1 John has much to say about Christians and how they should live their lives.
However, three of the chief reasons mentioned for obedience are 1) becoming perfected, 2) growing in faith, and 3) gaining assurance that we do in fact belong to him.
1 John 2: 5 but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him: 6whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.

Have you ever noticed that when you disobey you begin to ask [How could a Christian have done such a thing?]. This is a lack of assurance. . . . .
Most of the time this is caused by taking our eye off of God and pursuing the things of this world. But scripture tells us 1 John 2:15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. However, much like Esau, we foolishly attempt to trade our inheritance for a bowl of beans.
We all fail from time to time. Therefore, seek not the things of this world – but place your trust in Christ who lived a perfect life and intercedes on your behalf.

When you keep you eye on Christ, earthly thing will become less important. . . . .
