Matthew 10:14

And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.
Matthew 7:6

Do not give that which is holy (the sacred thing) to the dogs, and do not throw your pearls before hogs, lest they trample upon them with their feet and turn and tear you in pieces.

The person says did you check the context on all the verses.
a huge common question that needs to be asked. by far, the most extreme case of this subject was with my younger brother who was an atheist. it was his word or no word, he was always right, difficult to talk to & get along with. very argumentative too. for about 41 years, i would teach him about social values, the Bible & life in general. he wouldn't listen to me or anyone. Jesus gave me strength to remain steadfast in an attempt to assist him. i do possess an above average level of perseverance in life that helped me. but he committed suicide in august of 2024. the was no surprise at all. after his passing, i possessed no guilt whatsoever because i kept up my attempt to care for him.

Use scriptures to prove the right point.

And it is true that some people do not accept what scripture says.

Is it ego that blinds them.

Is it they cannot stand to believe their denomination is wrong.

Do they not like hearing it that way.

Some people might have a wrong interpretation not knowing all involved.

But some people reject what the Bible plainly states in a scripture.

The Bible is the most misinterpreted book.

People not letting go of the flesh not led of the Spirit.

People going by the blueprint of their denomination and defending it tooth and nail.

Oh sweet grandpa and grandma must surely be in the truth or if they have no teeth than in the twoof.

They are biased.

They have a belief that is not part of the Bible and they interpret scriptures that way like Joseph Smith or the Roman Catholic Church with their pagan and occult foundation.

It is strange the Christians are to battle the world showing them the truth and then they have to battle each other over the truth.

1Ti 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
1Ti 4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron.

2Ti 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
2Ti 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

The time will come people will not want to hear the truth of the Bible but according to their own lusts.

The new age christianity that interprets the Bible and religions according to the occult and evolution, and people are going to evolve to be spiritual, and greater, and Jesus became an ascended master among others, and there is no personal God, but they honor the God of forces the power of the Cosmos, and the New Age Christ is the next world teacher.

Some people in Science are putting out the new age christianity saying they have the correct interpretation of the Bible by new discoveries giving them a new perspective of things.

So eventually the Christians and atheists will be battling over the truth of the Bible.

The new age is the religion of the antichrist who will have the support of Science and the Pope and Vatican who will publicly embrace the new age christianity.

I do not know in which context that person said it, but the call to check the context is valid, at least, with regard to those verses, where the context is essential. Consider: the whole Scripture, the OT, the NT, the epistles of the apostles, Paul speak constantly about the role of the commandments in leading to life eternal, how God commands them, how everybody will be judged by how a man lived. And then it only takes Paul in some context to refer to the the ceremonial law of the Judaic Church, particularly circumcision, that was a matter of pride/distinction/being chosen in the eyes of the Judaic Church at those times, namely, that the faith saves without deeds of the law, implying those laws. And what happens then? A great part of the christian world comes to believe that it only takes faith to be saved, and the spiritual-moral law, with which Paul delighted by his internal man, as he himself says, is considered not the very essential to salvation. Whereas as we know the merit for both faith and living according to commandments belongs to the Lord Jesus Christ Alone.

So, one may easily see the importance of the context of the verses.

Are there different ways to interpret the scripture besides context?

There is no way to interpret the book of Revelation with only the context. You have to use other books of the bible to interpret it.

Genesis 3:14-15

King James Version (KJV)

14 And the Lord God said unto the serpent (Satan), Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

15 And I will put enmity between thee (Satan) and the woman (Jesus), and between thy seed (All nonelects) and her seed (All of God’s elect); it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Scripture fulfilled.

Suffering really makes me closer to God.
