As I read many of our posts here I often see our new brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ ask or question as to how you know Gods answers. We all know that of our many tasks as children of God is to witness , encourage and build up each other in faith. So I thought it would be a good way to encouage all new and each other in Christ, by sharing how God our father has spoken to your heart. I have one simple and loving request. I ask all of us, In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to refrain from debate. I ask this only because this should be a word of encourgement to all who seek to know through Jesus, our Father in heaven more intimately. So with joy lets all share in faith, hope and love how God our father has spoken to you.

God speaks to people in many ways!
~Through His written Word
~Through song
~through other people; both prophets and mature Christians AND even, at times, through people that do not yet know the Lord....let's not forget that He spoke through a donkey!
~through books written by mature Christian Authors
~Through visions
~Through dreams
~Through an audible voice spoken to you
~Through an inaudible voice....thought...that enters your mind.
I've experienced all of the above but there are probably more.
There are probably more.

By the way the world hates us for believing His Word. Kind of like, as God speaks, so will it be. As we see it so in our own lives, then by the world hating us, we hear God speaks that we are not of the world for believing and receiving His Word.

Below is from Jesus' prayer to the Father.

John 17:13And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves. 14I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 15I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. 16They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

17Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. 18As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. 19And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. 20Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; 21That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

So God can speak to us indirectly by the fact that the world hates us because we have received His Word. He mentions another group of believers whom do not quite believe the same way the elect believe but they believe on Him through their word. I take it to mean those left behind at the rapture event for we know for sure, the world will hate them during the great tribulation.

Pssst.. MaggieMye took all the good ones. This is all I have to offer by His grace.;)

For me, in many ways. Mostly his word. But knowing his very voice took time. I often questioned was this his answer or is this just what I wanted to hear? Over time I learned because it would be confermed by another, through his word or by what he had shown me coming true. I also began to see that when he spoke to my heart, it wasnt just a voice, but like a knowlage, a being. It would be like Our Father said, I am. The part that has amazed me is how he can repramand, humble, love, lift me up, encourage, make me cry and make me laugh all in the same moment. Everything of the world seemed to fall away and all I know is his presence. I think that one of the things that has surprized me the most is Gods sence of humor. It was so unexpected, yet it delights me always now. The key to knowing his voice for me was faith, hope and Love. Believing in faith, hope and love in Jesus. Sometimes I would stumble a bit but Our Father is faithful. He would cover me and make it good. Our Father in heaven is always there to hold tightly to my right hand and answer. God bless, pickles

Ain't that the truth!! and let's not forget that "still, small voice" of our conscience.

One time I misplaced sometihng....my cell phone I think. I looked everywhere for it and could not find it. I asked out loud, "Lord, You know! Where is my cell phone?" Immediately He answered "in the bathroom on the wichker shelf" and sure enough it was there! (Granted.....answers are not always immediate).

Let's keep this simple and practical for every believer. First and foremost we have the spoken word that was given to men through inspiration and it became the written word for all believers to live by. The Holy Spirit takes the written word and reveals it to our heart and mind as the living word so that we can walk by faith. We live by every word (rhema) that proceeds from God's mouth. This (rhema) is the living word revealed by the Holy Spirit to us. It comes when we hear the word of God preached by a pastor/teacher that God has raised up, who studies and labors in the word and doctrine to the point of exhaustion. Then we take the word that has been preached and we continue in the fellowship of that word. As we continue in it, the Holy Spirit reveals truth to our heart and that truth adds to our faith.

When we mix faith with the word of God that has been preached, it will profit us through the Holy Spirit that will speak and guide us with a still small voice. This still small voice is the voice of the shepherd that speaks to His sheep and a strangers voice the sheep will not hear. When a brother, in the Lord, speaks to us a word in season because we are weary, that word comes from God to minister to us, to encourage us and to build us up. All the other things mentioned, God may do to minister to us and confirm the word that has already been spoken to us. A dream or vision is never the source of God's word but may involve God's action upon His word or what He has promised. A song can minister to us but it is meant to minister to Him and He inhabits the praises of His people.

The highest form of worship for the believer is hearing the word of God. God made sure in the garden that Adam and his wife heard His voice by coming to them in the cool of the day. Anything that takes the place of hearing God's voice is a form of idolatry. As believers, we are never to get caught up with dreams and visions, if God gives them to us that is fine and if not, they do not reveal a lack of spirituality or a lack of faith. The faith we walk by comes from hearing and hearing from the word of God.

God will never tell you to do something contry to His Word, so know His Word.

God speeks in many ways as the above lists, but you have to spend time with Him to Know His voice.

Ive heard Him audibly 2 in my life, but I dont seek out that. I get inner nudges, promptings and
His conversayions with me in my mind.

Bottem line is know His Word, then get to know Him, He loves conversation

In fact. from the list Maggie Mye has given, the scripture tops all of the other forms of communication so that every supernatural encounter has to be tested and cannot go contrary to God's words.

There are probably more.
Galatians 1: 6I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

2 Corinthians 11:1Would to God ye could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me.

2For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. 3But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 4For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

Hebrews 4:12For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

2 Timothy 4: 1I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; 2Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. 3For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. 5But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. 6For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. 7I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 8Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. 9Do thy diligence to come shortly unto me:

John 5:39Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. 40And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

So if any other invitation is being given "instead of Christ", then that is the "aniti-christ". All those that place themselves as ibetween us and Christ Jesus has been described by Jesus own words as a thief be an angel, a church, a system of works, or a spirit that is not the indwelling Holy Spirit which is why He is in us and not inbetween us and Jesus to be called a thief. Jesus is the only way to relate to God the Father.

John 14:6Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

John 10: 1Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.... 7Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. 8All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. 9I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. 10The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. 11I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. 12But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. 13The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep. 14I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

So no dream nor vision nor miraculous visitation by an angel or the false appearances of the "Virgin" Mary should lead anyone away from Jesus at anytime... not even to share as "another" invitation as all invitation points to Jesus to come to God to have life.... and yet some would place something or some spirit would place themselves as inbetween us and Jesus which is a thief.

Jesus is our first love. Shall we not be chaste as the Bride in coming to our Lord and Saviou as He is the Bridegroomr? May God help us to do this by His grace so every spiritual encounter has to be tested and discerned by the Word of God. Amen.
