I have been thinking about this today also discussing with a friend about a certain peace we have - even when the overall picture is bad, when life is less than perfect, truly it is a peace that passes understanding. I know I am saved because I have Joy and peace and a deep love for the Lord, a love that grows daily. I see Christians post here and it's very evident to me that they are saved, they are loving, caring individuals and have attributes that remind me of Jesus.

I don't believe we are born again or saved when we are baptised (I know some Christians believe that) although baptism is a good idea. I know the exact time I was saved, I will never forget it and I wish I could re-live it every day although it would render me useless lol.

So, how do you know you are saved?

The truth about John 3:16 resonated deep in my spirit as a child. Children believe easily. Nothing has ever caused me to doubt.

I always believed that I would go to heaven and be with Jesus no matter how I felt or acted, but it was years later that I understood that I could have His presence in a very real way NOW.

...because I just received a text confirmation stating that my seat has been reserved.:D

Kidding MPW.

I think you just know, and that's the hard part...explaining how we know, ya know?
No one can take it from you. No person can tell you if you are or are not.

It's a feeling that won't seem to go away.
Saved!

Having a personal relationship with Jesus, by spending time with Him and reading His word. By acknowledging him and believe He is there, trusting in Him fully and know His ways are better then ours. :)

When I feel the most doubt - His Words start popping into my mind from the spirit and I know it's not my memory involved bringing them up --- but that's how He comforts me and lets me know He's still hanging with me. He knows what it takes for each individual sheep of His - that we're all different - like sheep or snowflakes or flowers and He uses different things for however we're built - I believe. With me, He has to prove it to me in a way that I can't do myself - and that's by putting His Words into my mind out of 'thin air' -- so speak. He's So Good & Merciful to those that love Him and to those that He knows will love Him someday in their future!

Just as I KNOW I was born the first time,
So I KNOW I was born the 2nd time (from above).

By that mighty change of heart and life by which my doubts were replaced with absolutely convincing faith.

Because God doesn't let me continue sinning.

For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives. (Heb. 12:6)

I know I am saved by the complete peace God has given me. Because my thoughts are on Him constantly. I praise and thank Him constantly. Finally I know I am saved because I can do and have all of this with every hardship that is in my life right now from physical, to financial, to family relation I can still praise and thank Him every day and all day because He saved me. I LOVE JESUS!!!

Odd..............not one mention of the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives........(those of us who are saved).......should be the "first" clue and the first response?

Well if you think about it and know that every response is from a believer in Christ, well it's almost a taken for granted kind of thing. The reason is this...not a single response could be said without it. :)

Yes.............uh..........and no................. :)

Not sure how a believer could ever take the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit for granted................. hmmmmm........
but, I do understand what you are saying...............still, is it NOT the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit that assures us of our salvation? Just thought He would be worthy of recognition.............. :)

close but not only no cigar, maybe out of the ball park ! one of the biggest deflections from the truth of seeking and abiding in and learning from Jesus today is the deflection and emphasis to and towards and INSTEAD OF SEEKING JESUS , seeking (a)(the)(some) 'holy' (ghost)(spirit)(entity)(part of God?)
....

and, since the wide road is very populated, it is 'easy' to think one is on the 'right' road to life just because so many others around are on it.....

but, "there is a way which seems right to a man, but the END THEREOF IS DEATH" (a condition of always being separated from God, never being part of Him, never knowing and abiding in JESUS )....

so, since there is a thousand to one against you, humanly/earthly/emotionally/relationally speaking,
finding out the truth will require every bit of effort that you can muster..... (and a revelation and searching outside the walls /boundaries/ of church and country and forum..... ).... i.e. seek the Creator Himself, by faith in Yahshua (Yahweh's Salvation) Hamashiach, as His grace is superabundant to those who love Him, who are called according to His Purpose.....
